Quite a long walk from the downtown -- 40 minutes. And a very small collection. Mostly quite abstract. It has a small cafe with a nice view over the harbour.

The museum consists of a lobby, 2 exhibit rooms, a small cafe and sculpture on the grounds.
The art goes is more on the non-objective side. It has pleasing relaxing quality.
We enjoyed the art but not nearly as much as the Ásmundur Sveinsson or Einar Jonsson museums. That being said we're glad we went and would have felt we missed some of the great art iceland has to offer
The grounds have a great view to sea. Good for an hour.

If you're a fan of his, then this is the museum for you. It will take you approximately 15 minutes to see the entire museum. The woman at the reception provided extra reading material and also mentioned that there is a small cafe in the museum as well. Small parking lot available and it is probably a lovely 30 minute still by food.

If you want to save your 1000 krona, you can just go there for a beautiful coastal stroll and a great view of Reykjavik.

My favorit museum in Reykjavík, situated by the seashore in most beautiful surroundings in the city of Reykjavík.
It doesn´t matter how the weather is or what time of the year it is, you wiil enjoy your stay inside the museum aswell outside.

We took an afternoon to do this museum and Asmundarsafn and then walked back along the harbor to the downtown. This was a lovely afteroon - both museums were great it was nice to explore other areas of town and get off the beaten path. This museum has a stunning location, right on the harbor, with scuptures by a local artist located both inside and outside of the building. The building itself was also spectacular - modern design with clean white lines and interesting geometry. It is definitely worth the trip outside the city center and a must see if you are a sculpture lover.
