One of the most unique and memorable experiences I've had while traveling! Keeping in mind Iceland is the only place in the world you can descend inside of a volcano. I didn't learn about inside the volcano until I was already on my trip but I am glad I was able to fit it in.

This experience is very humbling and unique. You will go about 120m into a dormant volcano crater. It's quite something! We really enjoyed our trip. The guides were knowledgeable and friendly. Here are some tips for other tourists: - The experience is expensive, but well worth it. - You will have to hike about 3kms there and 3kms back. The... More

I really cannot recommend this adventure enough. It's true that it's expensive however I can guarantee that you'll walk away satisfied. We took our 2 teenage boys and it was an amazing experience that we will never forget. It's organised extremely well and professionally and you feel totally safe at all times. The emotions that you encounter as you are... More

The "Inside the Volcano Tour" was one of the highlights of our trip to Iceland last summer. The tour starts with a hike of about one hour from the meeting point to the volcano. During this hike the guide explained various geological features. At the volcano the guests are offered tea and coffee and after the safety instructions and donning... More

My husband and I splurged (majorly) for the helicopter tour up to the volcano. We had to work directly with the helicopter company -- the volcano tour company doesn't help with that -- but once we booked the flight they dropped us off (a nice little 20 minute scenic flight over Reykjavik) at the top of the volcano and we... The weather seemed fine when we left Reykjavik, but was much less so when we arrived at the "lower base." When we arrived here we had time to stow the items we didn't plan on taking and to put on our layers (Note, there were no lockers for our bags, but I don't think there is any reason to worry... By far one of the coolest things I've done! Being submerged in the volcano is awe-inspiring. The colors are gorgeous. And the walk to the site is even rad. Do it!

This day trip was awesome! I joined this during summer time but the weather was fine for hiking, not too warm. Though the trip requires an hour uphilland 45min downhill walking, it's totally easy to mange. The hot soup before the real adventure in the volcano was so nice, i miss it so much :) The guided part in the... More

without a doubt the highlight of our last trip to iceland! the guide was knowledgeable, and the volcano was stunning! the hike was an easy 30-45 minutes, even in slippery ice pellet-like snow, but if you're disabled in any way, i was told there is an off road vehicle available to bring you most of the way.

I've decided on Inside the Vulcano while in Iceland - there were so many things to do, but this one kept popping up having great reviews. It's definitely expensive (for a relatively short trip), but for me personally it was totally worth it. It includes a nice short walk up to base camp, friendly and super enthusiastic guides (who just... More
