Fantastic experience but be warned, the easy trek is only easy if you are young and reasonably fit it is about 3 Klm of rough uneven and sometimes steep track over lava. My wife and I in our mid 70's managed it but it was...More

I wish it had not rained and had not been so windy. By the end of the trip, my boots were completely wet. Although it rained, it was still a wonderful trip. Firstly, the tour guides were friendly and cheery, and they gave clear instruction...More

I found this tour very interesting but very expensive for what you get. It is actually a once in a life time experience which I am glade I did, although I would not do it again. I found that the speed in which we covered...More

This was an interesting tour, descending down into the center of a dormant volcano (apparently the only one in the world where this is possible). The hike to get to the volcano was listed as moderate, but was really quite easy, about 1.5 mile hike...More

Inside the Volcano was genuinely an amazing experience. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They offer a delicious Icelandic stew at the base came, and plenty of tea and coffee to help keep you warm. Also it gets cold in the Volcano so it’s...More

The reviews tell it all. Amazing experience of being part of mother nature. We've been at the volcano in a stormy day, strong wind and rain; yet, the experience was GREAT. Do it at all weather that they operate the tour (our original date was...More

What an amazing trip! Words and pictures can't describe how amazing it is to go inside the lava chamber. The hike is about 2 miles each way which took about an hour on our tour. The weather was the worst part (cold and raining) but...More

This is the only place in the world where you can enter and explore the interior caldera of an extinct volcano. The prihnjukgagigur volcanic caldera was created some 4,500 years ago and this massive cavity and dome are all that remains. After an easy 3...More

This was a memorable activity for those who want something different. Be prepared for a two mile hike each way to and from the volcano. We went on a rainy, windy day and it was quite a strenuous hike over the lava field. Good hiking...More

Better to drive yourself. Take a morning tour and have the afternoon on the peninsula.

If you take the heli volcano, which is a combination of the helicopter from Reykjavík to þrjunukagigur and back with the volcano, it will take you about 2,5 hours max ☺️ Check it out with Norðurflug, helicopter.is

You can drive to the location. Just make sure you wear great hiking shoes. The Volcanic rocks can be challenging both on the way to the volcano and inside.
