This is a unique experience. The biggest surprise was how colorful the magma chamber is. They have a small selection of unique souvenirs in the "Base Camp", so bring your credit card if you want a T-shirt to prove that you have entered a volcano.

This experience was the bomb! It's an easy, flat 2 mile hike out across the lava fields to base camp. There is a cool bridge over the gap between the North American and Eurasian techtonic plates. The 200 yard walk up to the top of...More

This is a unique experience - a once in a lifetime opportunity to go 120 meters down into a dormant volcano. The trip was well organised with very informative staff and they've avoided the temptation to make it too commercial - so you did really...More

Very windy and cold on the hike to the Volcano but it was worth it. Optional, complementry rain coat helps a lot. The volcano itself was astonishing...then the soup (plus tea and coffee) at the hut before the hike back was great.

We came to Iceland for this trip and I would definitely recommend it. The organisation was exceptional and safety to the highest standards with a front a back guide for the hike over and helmets and harnesses as soon as you enter the lift area....More

4.5/5 We were not upset with this trip at all. We loved every minute of it. The extra rain coat for wind and rain protection, the walk to the volcano with information along the way, the trip into the volcano, the explanations and singing inside...More

I was not sure what to expect from this tour, and I was not disappointed. We self-drove as the meeting spot is easily accessed from Reykjavik and the surrounding area. Once the other members of the tour arrived, we began our hike across a lava...More

Great for people who like "out of the ordinary"-- hiking through a lava field to a volcano then descending down into it. Not a hard hike at all, just uneven ground. Bring warm and rainproof clothes even if it's nice out as you're hiking to...More

I echo the other comments made about the experience however I have some feedback regarding customer service. We were booked on the 9am tour and were picked up from our hotel and transferred to the central depot. Once we had arrived at the depot we...More

You can drive to the location. Just make sure you wear great hiking shoes. The Volcanic rocks can be challenging both on the way to the volcano and inside.
