Small state run church in the center of the tourist district. Nice place to warm up. Nice on the outside, particle and not easy to see from the outside.

We had not planned on visiting, but since the door was open, we decided to go inside to look around. The church was worth the stopover. The church is very tastefully appointed and when you first enter, you realize very quickly that you are in a holy place. If you find the door unlocked, stop in; you'll be glad you... More

This is situated a bit off the normal tourist track. Although this is the cathedral, it was quiet on visiting so were able to take in the ambience.

Most beautiful building and music was sensational - a very sad occasion as we were there for a family funeral but helped by the surroundings.

I passed by this attractive little church on a rainy evening in Reykjavik (unfortunately my only opportunity to visit the city due to having a fairly tight schedule). Unfortunately the church was closed (in fairness it was about 8pm or so) and so I couldn't go inside. But it still looks quite attractive from the outside.

This seems to be an authentic church, not meant for tourists. It's a nice walk uphill, the curch itself is surrounded by a school playground. Sincere atmosphere inside.

Don't miss this cathedral - so quaint, and an important part of Icelandic history. We had the cathedral to ourselves when we visited which added to the serenity and beauty of the church. Plan to see this as part of your journey around the city center.

Happened upon this cathedral quite by accident and on a Sunday at the start of Mass. Beautiful building, fabulous choir. After Mass we relocated at a nearby coffee shop to be followed a few minutes later by the priest who had just said Mass.

The Lutheran Cathedral of Reykjavik is worth a visit. It's in a circle of sites that included the Parliament, City Hall, the lake, and a short walk to the Settlement Exhibit, so if you're nearby, drop in. Wonderfully preserved old interior, with a complete upper gallery, pulpit, and period pews. The focal point, of course, is the Altar area, with... More
