At The Cinema, Old Harbour Village No2, are shown quality Icelandic nature films; volcanoes, northern lights, flora and fauna. The Cinema is located in the loft of an old fishermen´s dwellings, where the fishermen used to mend their nets, tar their boats, salt their fish and overnight in bed bunks. Redoing the loft the atmosphere of the old life was kept as much as possible, even so that the salt smell still lingers, but the main object was to provide ideal settings for showing quality Icelandic nature and documentary films. By reading the reviews of our visitors on The Trip Advisor pages it seems that we are having success ...

Lovely, quirky little cinema

I loved this little cinema. It was so homely, and the lit candles gave it a really cosy feel. I would definitely visit again!

Get off the beaten path and see one of the amazing nature films at this small and charming location in the old harbor. I hear the coffee next door at Cafe Haiti is outstanding and you could make it a day in this part of town. I saw the film covering Iceland's outstanding nature parks, then Chasing the Northern Lights,... More

How good to hear that you enjoyed our films so much! And thank you very much for taking the time to write a review. The elusive northern lights don´t show themselves according to the whims and wishes of us humans, so we offer the second best; films and photos from a couple of our best photographers and film makers, which... How nice to hear that you enjoyed your visit so much - and liked our films! Icelanders tend to take great pride in having their homes nice and cozy - and inviting to visitors. That is the kind of atmosphere we have tried to create. Thank you for writing a review about us. The Cinema staff More

Beautiful and educational movie. Really helps you to understand Iceland's geology (sthg which none of the local muse a in Reykjavik seem to be offering), and alsoto pick your ffavourite places to visit during your trip. The cinema is run by the director's wife , how more personal and fantastic can it get?

My partner and I visited the cinema on a Wednesday afternoon a few weeks ago after reading great reviews on trip advisor, and expected it to be a really pleasant little experience. There were positive Trip Advisor signs printed out on the notice board outside next to the show times, and they seemed to be proud of all of the... More

A lovely small cinema adjacent to Restaurant Hofnin. It is a cinema with film selections devoted to Iceland and its history. It is more like a beautiful bohemian sitting room with comfy chairs and sofas. The lovely lady who runs and owns it gave us a special presentation and as a bonus she was also able to give us a... There isn't much here but a movie is shown about the 2010 eruption and also one about a photographer seeking the Northern Lights. We liked the volcano movie so much we brought a copy home, exceptionally artistic and well done. I had hoped to see more of the Northern Lights in the second movie, which was also well done. Worth...
