One of the first dramatic things you will see on the ride to Reykjavik after you leave Keflavik airport, Mount Keiir is a striking introduction to the amazing things there are to see on the roads ahead.

This was the breathtaking view on our drive around the Reykjanes Peninsula. It was amazing to be driving in the shadow of this mighty snow covered mountain. We approached it as the sun was rising.

This volcano just rises out of the landscape as if it doesn't below. It is magnificent and offers many options for hiking. We did this as a stop on our way to the airport.

Mt Keilir is easy to see and get to. A fun walk for just about anyone with average capacity. Steep at times but doable, fantastic view on the top on a clear day.

I went there in the end of 2012 and it was wonderful, a bit long but a hiking trail suitable perfectly for starters. The view was phenomenal on the top and I would reccommend to any one to go and try walking on Keilir. I went there with a rental car that the Hotel arranged for me - you have... More
