Hraunfossar and the near Barnafoss are, for us, among Iceland most beautiful places. The unnumerable waterfalls of Hraunfossar are out of a dream and so are the tumbling, powerful Barnafoss. On a clear day, Barnafoss have literally the colour of the sky and are even...More

Though not the most exceptionally spectacular of all Iceland, these waterfalls merit a visit because they seep from under the lavafields into the river Hvita. You can walk on to the Barnafoss falls close by. There are a few explanatory signs about the falls and...More

I am sure Hraunfossar is beautiful all year round but I found it unique and magical in winter. Stark black lava, gushing water and icicles. Very beautiful. There is parking and it is only a short walk to see the falls although you can walk...More

Short drive from husafell hotel - two beautiful waterfalls - no charges to park - short trail between - lovely in the winter as water partly frozen .

Beautiful waterfalls. Easy to access. Mostly frozen when we were there in December. Fifteen to thirty minutes is more that enough time to see this attraction.

These falls are lava flows rising from underneath the lava. The water seeps from underground and are associated with the Hvita river.

Beautiful colours, easy to access. Attached to Barnafoss which is just a bit more beautiful. There are washrooms on site and an easy walking path.

Lava Falls or Children's Falls - I don't know what this set of water falls looks like without the ice but just now it looks amazing with it largely frozen. Not a massive set of falls but they are just different to anything else I've...More

Iceland is renowned for waterfalls and hraunfossar does not disappoint. hraunfossar is a little off the main tourist spots but well worth the drive. There is a little car park, a small gift shop with restrooms (cost to use), and some hiking trails around the...More

The water pours out of tubes in the lava rock. A short walk upstream arrives at the Children's falls, site fatal accident when a child fell from a lava arch over the river.

A toddler is better off on a self tour, mine got irritable at unpredictable intervals for diaper change, walk, etcetera.
