My yoga and hiking retreat with Inspiration Iceland exceeded all my expectations. Andreas and Ulrica are enthusiastic, warm, and welcoming hosts who ensured no detail was overlooked during my 6 day stay in Akureyri. The morning yoga sessions were a beautiful way to start each day and the afternoon hikes were challenging enough but very enjoyable and well-paced. We were often taken to less touristy places to have magical experiences with unforgettable Icelandic nature. A delicious dinner or lunch was provided each day with excellent vegan/vegetarian options and we were taken to a grocery store when we first arrived to pick up breakfast food for the week. The apartments with full kitchen and dining room were very comfortable and just a few minutes walk from the city centre. Highly recommended retreat with wonderful hosts!

Knarrarberg in Akureyri is a beautiful retreat and yoga center. They hosted our event in early August of 2022 at their beautiful place on the hill overlooking the bay and mountains near the city.
Our comfort was seen to at ever turn, and it felt like home away from home. The facility was perfect for our group of 40+ people, and yet cozy to be in. The room we held our meetings in has full windows on both sides that let in the light and beauty of the area. This added to the uplifting feeling of our subjects of discussion. It was inspiring to be there.

Mar 2016 • Family
From start to finish, Inspiration Iceland delivered an exceptional experience for our family of four (kids ages 11 and 13) at the end of March. Day One: Private super jeep tour of the Lake Myvatn area with our engaging host Andreas. Lava fields, Godafoss Falls, steam pots, the continental divide, geothermal nature baths...it was a firsthand experience in just how alive the Earth is under our feet. A former teacher, Andreas generously shared his knowledge, stories and humor along the way, giving us an education in Icelandic geology, lore and customs.
Following that excursion, our evening focused on learning to drive sledges pulled by Andreas' beautiful huskies. Ever the good teacher, Andreas set us up for success. What a rush! And just when we thought it couldn't get any better, the Northern Lights began their dance in the sky above us. Pure magic. An unforgettable experience.
Day Two: We visited the Yoga and Wellbeing Center run by Andreas and his wife Ulrica, a woman so full of love and light that I wish I could have stayed with her for a month. She is truly a master of the healing massage. After being transformed by her touch, we soaked in the jacuzzi, taking in the property's surrounding view of the mountains. Then it was time to relax a little more in the cozy and aptly-named Relaxation Room. In a word: joy.
Andreas and Ulrica have created something very special in Akureyri for everyone's enjoyment and inspiration. All of these excellent reviews are not a coincidence. Don't miss it!

The photos make this apartment look amazing, photos must have been taken years ago. Apartment 13 is run down, curtains thread bare, with tears and holes. Lightbulbs in kitchen were burned out. Shower is moldy in the corners and very slippery, there is no shower mat or anti-slip on shower floor. Our room had no closet or hooks or places to put our clothes. We had to unpack and keep our clothes in the living room and community cabinet. Room was so small only the 2 small twin beds fit. Outdoor spa was filthy, and upon opening the lid a slug was inside. One bath towel was provided for the week, no washcloths, and some pillows did not even have a pillowcase on them, and upon asking for a pillowcase we were told there aren't any more! We were very, very disappointed and the landlord/owner did nothing to improve the situation. Horrible apartment!

This was supposed to be the highlight of our honeymoon, but it was really disappointing. Their "super jeep" is just an old, draughty Land Rover which needs replaced. It was a rough drive to a strip of land beside a main road. It was a really hot day and I don't think it's responsible to have the dogs running in high temperatures. Not a nice location and there are free-roaming sheep at this time of year so really irresponsible.
We were taken back to their house as we had to change cars, the dogs were put back into a pen but one was tied up alone in the corner of the "car park" on a pile of stones. It was not nice to see these conditions and ruined the experience to see how unprofessional they are.

Over all I found the equipment dated and of low quality. When spending large amounts on experiences I expect a lot. I have trained sled dogs and been part of a sled dog team in Norway for many years. I found the dogs here were not trained properly or to a professional standard. The experience itself was ok but very short and not worth the money it cost.

Dear Husky Lovers and future customers,
We are offering a Husky dogsledding experience that is based on fair training methods (for instance we are not forcing the Huskies to poo whilst running), an experience where humans and Huskies are in a harmonious contact. Professional for us is when each husky in their true nature is put in the first place and their talents are strenghtened. Treating Huskies respectfully does not lead to low performance, on the opposite, they thrive, because Love and Recognition is their and our way. And they win races.
For other people professional is a great outlook on the surface, great racing, but behind are forced methods of training, huskies being chained, living in a industrial mass enviorment. May be the equipment is fancy (ours is great) – but the reality is sad. Professional here means when the human ego is enforced on huskies for a cool outlook. That is not us.
All of our sensitive customers can feel that our huskies are joyful, they live free in kennels, in a family enviorment. It is transparent and everyone can experience this enviorment.
We admittedly having strong doubts about the purity of intention of this review. We have not seen any professional musher/dog handler on our tours nor have we experienced the ethics that professional dog handlers/mushers incorporate, which is a burning interest for the wellbeing of the Husky breed and the exchange of ideas.
So welcome to a magnificent spring mushing experience...

Strange place... not a nice place to be...avoid! Overly expensive, very basic and bad set up. Not authentic and not worth your time or money.

I’m giving 3 stars only because my family enjoyed it. The best part for me was playing with the dogs and taking pictures with them. Started off good but I crashed (so did my husband) and the tour guy came running and yelling at me so bad and loud that the people in the van heard. Talk about embarrassing and heart wrenching. I’m so sorry I crashed but that is no reason to yell that bad and to a complete stranger that is also your customer. Took everything I had not to cry right there. He did apologize to me and my husband but the damage was done and I still think about it and it still upsets me. Yes, I understand safety. The operators know that most people doing this excursion have zero experience dog sledding and they know the risks being taken. Way too much money to have the experience of dog sledding and your Christmas ruined. That was all I could think about the entire day and cried a good bit. Definitely could use some better people skills.

Thank you very much for your review.
Over the past 10 years thousands of beginners (over 90% are beginners) have been dosgledding with us, and that is actually the perfect venue to learn to mush, to steer your own sledge.
Now, what we have NEVER seen is a customer being so abesent while sledging and careless towards our huskys and steering with full speed their own sledge almost into the other sledge. One can not believe that the customer did take no action to avoid the collission at all and endanger 8 huskies and her own kid on the front sledge!!!
Through our prompt action we could avoid it in last second.
So the GOOD news is that this review as well as my answer is irrelevant since it does not apply to 99.99% of our customers.
Our customers are attentive and care for the huskies. Everyone can make an experience of a lifetime with our lovely huskies - no matter what the skills are - as long as you are willing to be present and care for our huskies. Every customer gets a good training before the tour as well and being present there is a requirement. Ready - go!

Very punctual pick up and friendly guides. I felt really comfortable throughout. Also, this is my first time interacting with husky (I didn't like dogs actually) and this is life changing because I am in love with them now. We were scheduled to dog sled but due to warm spells snow melted and changed to scootering. It was still fun, exciting and thrilling!! It was hard at first but after I got the hang of it it was so so so fun. I want to do it again if I have the chance! Please when you are in Iceland you must try this, you will not regret it!

Dog scootering - you name it, is a lot of fun! After a long and successfull winter of dogsledding we are typically swopping over to dogscootering in May. Dog scootering gives you the same feeling of adventure and lovely interaction with our huskies - it is great fun. In the summer we offer it under the midnightsun which is just a stunning experience. We have heard many times that our customers overcame their fear or shyness of dogs - which is of course wonderful news. We welcome you now for the summer as well to our highland tours on super jeep and other stunning private excursions here in the North of Iceland. We will not miss to inspire you - for sure!

My wife and I were the first dog sled of the season. The experience was perfect and well worth it. Andreas is very passionate about Iceland and his excursions. I found Andreas being a immigrant to Iceland very valuable -- he is very passionate about the country and the Icelandic people.

Yes, we opened the dog sledding season with you on 22nd October. We are having perfect conditions at present and dog sledding season will be on until 30th April 2015.
So welcome! You did a combi tour; panoramic dogsledding here in Akureyri and a private excursion to Myvatn, the to be experienced volcanic location in North of Iceland.
Me and my team are offering private tours for individuals and small groups. All of us are passionate about our country and we like to convey the alive spirit of this amazing place. All of our guides are also certified (so you can expect profound expertise) and we have on tours in English, German, French and Italian. Greetings from the winterdreamland

Hi,
We are coming to akureyri on December 1st for 3 days and would like to do the dog sledging tour.
There will be 2 or 4 of us, do you have availability on these dates? and could you please give me an indication as to the costs?
We would also like to see the northern lights, do you do a tour that would allow this?
kind regards
Ian

Hello,
About the local tours, what did they entail? Where their whale watching tours, and if so do you remember how much they were? What tour did you take? We are going to Iceland beginning of September on a cruise ship and will stop at 4 cities.
Thanks for your help,
judylee

What are some options for an adventure during the first week of November? We are visiting Iceland for the first time from Oct. 31 till Nov.7 and would like to experience something outside of the "norm". I feel as though we are between seasons. Any suggestions?
