This was one of the first places we visited but unfortunately we didn’t get to see it. When we arrived at the river after a pleasant walk, we were disappointed to be greeted with massive queues of tourists both sides waiting to cross the questionable...More

We took a chopper trip over the southern part of Iceland including the Glymur waterfall. As usual nature puts on a great show. This is Iceland’s second highest waterfall and is absolutely breathtaking. We did not do the hike to the waterfall, but I believe...More

This was by far my favourite waterfall hike in Iceland. Fortunately, the weather was perfect that day with clear blue skies and sun. I recommend making the climb from the right side as it is far more scenic and challenging with numerous lookout points as...More

The views will not disappoint! The log across the river is probably the hardest part, and there are some slick, steep parts. Definitely go up the right side, over, and across. The views from the left side are nowhere as good as the other side....More

My husband and I were hoping to see what was the tallest waterfall in Iceland. Since were were seeing so many waterfalls in the country, it seems a shame to miss this one. We got in about 30 minutes or so and did admire some...More

Start with valley of purple and yellow wild flowers. Follow the east side of the mountain to get best views. Go through mini caves and cross the river. The log and rocks was fun and cold. After stunning views and around 1.5-2 hours reach the...More

My wife and I did the ring road and this was our favorite hike. It isn’t easy, but every time you get a view of the waterfall it is better than before. It is well worth crossing the wooden pole and staying on the east...More

Did the Glymur hike on a blue sky day in the first week of June 2018. The approach to the river gives you outstanding mountain and valley views. You make your way from the ridge down through a tunnel and you are soon at the"...More

The view from Glymur is absolutely beautiful - let's say this first. The waterfall and cliffs are absolutely breathtaking BUT the way up is pretty steep and slippery. If you don't mind complex hikes with a little mud and sliding stones it's totally worth it...More

A bit of a challenging hike over lava rocks and across streams but regardless of which path you take, you will be rewarded with great views. We took the "easy" path and went as far as "the log". It was entertaining watching people cross the...More

We were there at the beginning of May and it was supposed to be already across, but winter was still hanging on so they chose to delay it. I would expect that the log will be across by now but if it is still snowing there... More

Hi Joe, From the parking lot it'll take you about 1,5 hour to get there, so 3 hours forth and back. The signs are not that clear but the track is visible. Do follow the track getting up and not down to the river, for they... More

They remove the log crossing in the winter. I'm not going to say it's impossible. It will be freezing and treacherous, and that's even with the log crossing. Without the log, you are looking at a climb up the west side... More
