A creation of the famous Finnish architect Lars Sonck when only 23 years old. A truly beautiful church rich in detail. Make sure to enter the church: the interior is something to see, too. The church is not in the immediate city centre, but it takes only about 15 minutes to walk there from the market square. Next to the... More

Even Archange Michael's church is not the oldest and most likely the first ones locals would spotted out - it is from my opinion the most beautiful church in Turku. So if you are interested in architect, church history or just beautiful buildings - this is not too far away from town center so fairly easy to catch and free... More

Lars Sonck won the design competition on year 1894 when he was only 23 years old and the church was opened to public year 1905. The church is magnificent: outside the dignified conifers fit perfectly the appearance of the church and the church is full of small details. The original stained glass windows were destroyed during the war and they... More

This was a beautiful find. We were walking back to the train station after having seen the river walk, and stumbled upon this gem of a church. If you are in Turku, it is a must see.

I don't think that this will be on a lot of tourist's must-see lists but it is really incredible. The striking neogothic exterior hides the stunning art nouveau interior. Be sure to check the opening hours though, before you make the walk.

I spotted the spires of the church from a hill and searched for it. It is about 10-15 minute walk from the city centre (about 4 blocks away from Aura river). The church is absolutely beautiful!

This church wasn't on my list of places to see in Turku but as I was walking around there it was so I got in. And it's just beautiful. I was the only person at the church so I stayed there longer than usual, the silence, just me and my thoughts. Perfect.

Beautiful church building & interior. Location a bit far away from city center. It's one of the landmark in Turku. Lots of locals go there for Sunday morning prayers.

One of the best examples of the North Modern - The Archangel Michael church is the most beautiful church in Finland, that we sow before , has very interesting interior : chandeliers, stained-glass panels, benches and other details make atmosphere of the beginning of the XX Th. century.
