This is the historical part of Turku introducing the buildings, small yards and rooms in a way they were 100 years ago. There's a relaxing atmosphere and you will forget all your trobles and stress in this place. I especially love the smell of the old wood, smoke and tar! If I were a tourist in Turku, this would be... Must have been over ten years since I'd been to Luostarimäki museum last time, but I've been there quite a few times when the kids were small. This time I went there to see how people celebrated Chritmas in former times. The museum is usually closed in the winter, but opens up for a few weeks around Christmas, when they... More

The handicraft museum offers what is left of the old Turku with original buildings and in the summertime there can be seen how old handicraft techniques work.

This is a real piece of Turku history, most of the buildings are their original positions and survied the big fire 1827 and also everything moved to that are really supports the story that this museum is telling

If you are intrested of old times you should reserve few hours time to visit this place. There is a lot to see. I enjoyed seeing a person to make a ribbon. I was surprised to see tobaccoplants outside.

I have been to this museum a couple of times during the summer as I lived in Turku for many years. It is great when people are on hand to explain a few of the shops and buildings. The most important thing about this museum is that the buildings are in their original spots! Most 'old areas' like this in... More

This is a collection of buildings which managed to survive the fire which destroyed old Turku nearly 200 years ago and is perhaps even more remarkable that people born there were actually still living in the buildings until late last century. I can't imagine what it must have been like living and working through a Finnish winter in these cramped... More

It was a pleasant way to spend two hours. Some of the docents spoke good English so we were able to learn a bit of history. But after a while, it felt like just another open air museum (we have seen a lot of them in Europe). We had a nice lunch at the museum cafe; it had a few... More
