If you are intrested of old times you should reserve few hours time to visit this place. There is a lot to see. I enjoyed seeing a person to make a ribbon. I was surprised to see tobaccoplants outside.

I have been to this museum a couple of times during the summer as I lived in Turku for many years. It is great when people are on hand to explain a few of the shops and buildings. The most important thing about this museum is that the buildings are in their original spots! Most 'old areas' like this in... More

This is a collection of buildings which managed to survive the fire which destroyed old Turku nearly 200 years ago and is perhaps even more remarkable that people born there were actually still living in the buildings until late last century. I can't imagine what it must have been like living and working through a Finnish winter in these cramped... More

It was a pleasant way to spend two hours. Some of the docents spoke good English so we were able to learn a bit of history. But after a while, it felt like just another open air museum (we have seen a lot of them in Europe). We had a nice lunch at the museum cafe; it had a few... More

I could not believe that I spent 2 hours in a Handicrafts Museum. But this museum is about displaying a way of life in a Finnish 19th century village. There is both the interest in the housing and of the many trades and crafts performed by its inhabitants. There is something for everyone - knitters, sowers, dress making, watch making,... More

Interested in seeing how a 18th century wooden city looked like in real life with it's handicraft occupations like bakery, post office, shuemaker shop and many others. Visit the Handicraft museum in Turku and get amazed how things were long time ago. It gives for sure new perspectives to our current lives, too. You can't even imagine.

Luostarinmäki is really fascinating piece of the old city, to see how people lived 100-200 years back. The houses were built in late 18th and early 19th century and were saved from the big fire in Turku (year 1827). It's quite big area so save hours if you are interested in history and there is so many tiny details to... More

Beautiful place to visit but during summertime. Only part of Turku which is still the same after big fire in early 1800. Active museum during summertime and you can also see how people lived and see really how they worked but only during summer, Christmas is the difference, then everybody should come to Turku because that is the only place...
