This library consists of two buildings. The old Dutch late Renaissance style building was completed in 1903. The new building is from 2007.
We visited only the old building. It was stunningly beautiful, a must-see place in Turku.
The original library burned down including all the books inside. A very sad history. Now it is a vibrant library with a huge collection or books and periodicals. Worth a visit if you are interested in libraries.

Apparently the old library is a must see because of it's wooden architecture, inside the building.
Yet, I believe it is a must see because of the great work to connect the old and new library.
