Extraordinary inside and out, Tampere's Lutheran cathedral is like no other church. Built in the national romantic style, and designed by Lars Sonck, with much of the interior painting by symbolist Hugo Simberg, it's probably the most Finnish of buildings, if that's possible. For a...More

From the outside, Tampere Cathedral seems almost "generic," but don't let that fool you. Go inside and be amazed by the architectural detail and the stunning murals.

Beatiful church, nice paintings and cool glass works. Definetly a church to visit if you are interested in church and old buildings.

Fascinating example of National Romanticism. Very different from Lutheran churches in the US. Definitely worth a visit.

Visit is a must, imho. The cathedral building dates back to the early 20th century, so it is not that ancient, but looks like a medieval castle. The frescos and stain glass inside are very unusual.

Like other Lutheran churches we have been to in the city, this one has a simple yet elegant interior. The paintings and decor are magnificent in their simplicity. The stone work is detailed but not to the extend of and English or Catholic cathedral. Information pamphlet...More

As far as I can remember it was 10.00 to 17.00 but ceremonies or services could mean that this is adapted. We went there in the early afternoon at around 13.00.
