There are really two Old Raumas: a couple of bustling streets off the main market square, lined with restaurants, cafes and shops that wouldn't be out of place in any town centre; and a maze of smaller streets and alleyways, which are almost exclusively residential...More

The old Rauma is very nice and we loved wandering in the streets, looking at all the houses. The houses are very colourful and every one of them is different. It is very very quiet though, and even though August was far from over it...More

Beautiful old town with typical wooden houses with different architectures and colors. It was very busy on the day I visited due to a special festival and parking was difficult, but it still was lovely to stroll around to appreciate the houses.

I would have loved to see this town when some of the shops and restaurants were open. Still a nice bit of history and architecture to look at . The church was open though.

If you are interested in old towns then this is a must. A substantial area of old wooden buildings. Many are quite ordinary but some are very stylish. Overall a lovely area to wander around (with a camera maybe)

A nice old town where buildings are mostly wooden. Best time to visit is summer months and usually before noon when market place is open.

Lovely old town, many coloured buildings with timber exteriors. Most are houses, but there are a few shops.

This portion of the city is a UNESCO heritage site because of the wooden construction of the buildings. Yes it is attractive but not in any way extraordinary. Certainly if you are in Rauma area you should stroll along the streets and do some shoppting.

Rauma Old Town is enchanting and even more so when you have it to yourself on a sunny summer evening. In the middle of the day it didn't feel crowded, but in the evening, the deserted cobble-stone streets with bright light casting long shadows were...More

Hello Helena! Thanks for asking! I would recommend you to visit Porvoo which is much closer to Helsinki. Rauma is too far away for a one day trip. Porvoo is also a very famous and beautiful wooden and old town. It lies by... More
