Built in 1845. Free. Beautiful inside. Right across the street from the Lutheran Church. They have the largest collection of Slavic books in the world, including Russia. There are lockers inside for free too. If this review is helpful then please indicate so below.

We stumbled in there and we were very surprised to find such a lovely interior! Great place to buy t-shirts (not the typical "....I love...."- stuff!). ...and even the restrooms are a kind of a museum!

We briefly stopped in to see the ceiling in this building and it was well worth it. It was stunning! You don't need much more than 20 minutes at this location.

What an amazing place! Huge, enormous building. It has a lot of levels inside, although it doesn't look like that from the outside. There is one beautiful room, great design and then you go to the library itself.

The library's main building faces the Senate Square. The main building is of the Early Empire style and was built in 1840-1845. It features a gorgeous rotunda completed in 1906. The library is a "hidden gem" on the square but easy to find and access.

The recently renovated National Library was part of architect C.L. Engels' original plan for the center of Helsinki in the Empire style of 1845. It has been enlarged many times and even the airy and elegant Rotunda is an addition from 1906. The three story...More

I wandered in here on a recent visit and enjoyed seeing the beautiful interiors throughout the building. Not much to it, but worth taking a break from walking the city and seeing inside! I recommend it!
