A nice one yes, but if you travel on city breaks often then it is just another statue to tick off your list. It is however located in a nice area around the main harbour area with a nice open air market across the street with lots of tourist souvenirs from the Nordics and food. And on the other side... It's a kind of symbol for Helsinki and you can't avoid it if you visit the market place and Esplanadi park.

A beautiful statue of of a mermaid rising from the sea. Our guide informed us it is projected as a symbol of the re-birth of Helsinki. Quite a beautiful story, located by the harbour, worth a look during a walk.

This fountain is at the end of the Esplanadi Park. It is a beautiful statue in the city and well worth pausing to take photos of after walking the full length of Esplanadi Park.

Havis Amanda statue - even though one of symbols of Helsinki - is not interesting as such to visitors. The surroundings are more intersting: the Esplanade park, the Market Square and the Old Market Hall nearby. However if you are in Helsinki on April 30th, the statue will be "capped" by university students in a "seremony" that gathers large crowds.... More

After a lovely stroll down the Esplanadi to the harbour area, this elegant statue marks the separation point between it and the Market /Harbour ... or beginning, depending on which direction you are walking! The sound of the water is relaxing and it's a good point to stop and just take in the views all around. I have read that... More

Located in the city centre just near the marina this statue is a tribute to feminine form that makes all males whirl around . Below the graceful statue are dolphins that give such a grace to the whole scenery and fountain . Do visit you'll like it .

I am really in awe of Helsinki statues because they are very original and don't resemble anything you might have seen before This lovely mermaid rests her feet on four spouting fishes and is surrounded by seals, just a few steps from the old Market and the ferry terminal. I wonder how different would she find the city from her... More
