Stand Out

Amongst some of the modern buildings this is a relic of the past. Mixture of coloured bricks and architecture is pleading to the eye. Good selection of eateries within.

This is definitely a must see for anyone visiting Helsinki. It has the best fresh fishes, meat and vegetables. I suggest trying a rye bread with salmon, a treat us Finns love! Or maybe a karjalanpiirakka (carelian pie) with some munavoi (butter and egg mixture). For dessert have a few chocolate bites or a traditional finnish liquor from the smallest... More

In the Old Market Hall you can find and taste almost all the Fin traditional foods. Try the specialties of small canteens.

This market has a second floor with many handmade goods from Finland. It is a very nice location to find cheap gifts. We bought a fur hat for 16Euro which was selling for 35Euro at the harbour market.

I had the best Salmon Soup from the market. You can buy bear, reindeer, fresh seafood, and many other local oddities. Try Karhu beer. It is now my favorite European beer.

Lots of food but prices are on the steep side. It has many little shops selling traditional food. Worth spending some time checking out the various shops.

The Old Market Hall is a beautiful building housing the markets. The building is from 1889 and it is a lovely example of a market hall. The hall is full of stalls on both sides and you can buy lots of local goods.

Nice building structure. But inside is just 2 passage ways with shops at both sides cf each passage way. Plenty of food but I found the prices too high. I didnt have my lunch there, instead at the Esplanade temporary market place
