orthodox churches in Finland are not rare but this one had a special vibe to it. you can take amazing photos of the building as it is placed in great, and very accessible place.

Impressive building looking down on the harbour. We couldn't find the entrance so viewed it from the harbour and surrounding area. The architecture is amazing and I wish we had found the entrance so we could have seen the interior.

This is one of many attractions which is easy to get to. The building is nice and we just had a quick look inside before having to check out at the hotel. Could smell the age of the Cathedral inside but then again is quite...More

Unlike a lot of similar churches, this one both welcomes visitors and allows photographs within the Building. Great position. "Iconic" interior would seeman apt description.

It just stood out ... I spent quite a while just staring at the building, it had that effect on me but then again, if you're not into historical buildings and art ..this might be a stretch. Even then...it's beautiful 😍

An Orthodox church located near the Helsinki port, very beautiful both inside and outside. When we visited it we were almost alone and were able to see all the details and beauty. If possible spend 1 hour or so to visit it.

this is the second most famous church in helsinki ( the other one being white church) . Its really beautiful from inside and you can get a very nice view of the city from the courtyard in front of the church for free.

Huge and still so peaceful and lovely place. I recommend to visit also during the holy services - it demands nothing special, just wearing desent clothes (men no shorts etc, ladies no beachstyle summer clothes)- and quiet walking is possible. There are a lot beautiful...More

Tourist buses were pouring in when we arrived there. We were crammed in in the rather small church room which was very russian,!! Would have been a nicer visit at a more calm point in time,

We walked all over the town while at times it snowed on us!!! Delightful! We walked to the harbor where the souvenir shopping is very expensive. We saw this cathedral in the vicinity and we are are so happy we popped up to peek!

The website seems to indicate this church is closed on Mondays (interpretation of the translation). Is this correct?

It's closed on Monday. They are only opened for a couple of hours on other days if the week too. Though it is worth going in, just looking at the church and walking around it to see the 360 view of Helsinki bay is nice, too.
Will the church open on 23 Jun, 2017 (day before MIdsummer Festival)? If so, will keep same open hour as usual (9:30-16:00) on that day?
