Quiet & Beautiful

Cathedral is located on top of a hill near to the harbour. Serene and quiet inside with beautiful paintings. Worth the climb up.

My family and I stopped in this cathedral twice (we were staying 5 blocks away at the Scandic Grand Marina hotel). It is a beautiful church, and is visible from several locations around the city. There is no cost for admission.

The Uspenskin Katedreeli is a beautiful architectural example and stands out looking down over the water in Helsinki. The roof reminds of the Russian influence. I didn't get to see the inside but the outside is impressive

Our family stopped by for short visit at largest Orthodox Church in Northern and Western Europe. Bit of a climb up, but glad we saw the beautiful interior. The view of the city from the top of the hill was also nice.

Steep climb into a magnificent interior with solemn choir and prayers... it was a spiritual and cultural experience for me...being a Catholic I never seen the interior of a majestic Russian Orthodox Church and this was first of Thor opportunities... people were very friendly and even one lady suggested me to come for next days mass where she will sing... Approaching from street level the cathedral rises above on its prominent position like a fantasy of domes and distinctive orthodox architecture. Inside the atmosphere is subdued and holy.

If you are in Helsinki and want to see the rich history of this city then you must tour this cathedral. While the outside is beautiful it doesn't compare to the inside in the least. We were able to see this Cathedral from all over the city--while we drove in, from our hotel and off of the Sky Wheel. If... More

This church isn't too far from the Helsinki Cathedral. It's a bit of a hike up to the building, and then a few more stairs in the main room. It's what you'd expect from an Orthodox cathedral. Lots of decorations, images, candles. I didn't smell any incense, however. Based on the imposing presence of the building in the hill, I... More
