Really enjoyed visiting here. he building is beautiful and the exhibitions are interesting and incredibly informative. I learnt so much at this museum and it helped me understand the history and culture of Finland.

The "Paja" on the 3rd floor of the National Museum is full of things from old times that the kids can play with. based on my experience, suits very well at least for kids between 3 and 12 years. My five grandchildren today spent there 2 hours and did not want to leave!

The signs inside say it's undergoing major improvements over the next four years. It needs it. Most exhibits look like leftovers after they torn down some churches and old houses. I learned very little here. Shame.

The National Museum of Finland was built in 1916 in National Romantic style and is located on Mannerheimintie, one of Helsinki's two main streets (the other one being Aleksanterinkatu). The museum, with its heavy stonework and tall square tower, looks more like a Gothic church, though. In my opinion, the museum is very interesting, but the presentation of the exhibits... More

I was born in Finland but lived most of my life in Australia so this museum is a great place for me to get to know more about the place I was born. The displays are set up well and have good descriptions and there was so much to see and read that I'll definitely have to go back and... More

This is just not a good museum. The exhibitions are shoddy, at best. At times it feels more like a furniture show, because it focuses on how living rooms used to look like instead of actual historical events. Barely a mention of the Civil War, Winter War or Continuation War. Nothing at all about modern Finland.

For many foreign tourists a view of the exterior will suffice because the exhibits are devoted to details of the country's history that may not resonate with outsiders.

The museum is undergoing significant renovations through 2018 do some galleries were closed. It's well presented and glow is great through the galleries. You're very unlikely to get lost! Displays were in multiple languages, but the omission of Russian from most of the exhibits was curious. A cafe in this basement served a lovely lunch and the top floor was... More

This museum building has a rich heritage in its own right and is worth exploring just for that. The prehistoric / dinosaur display is fun, the zones of the world exhibit is interesting (though sad to see so many stuffed animals). They have lockers for all your outer layers - useful when it's cold outside and you are wearing lots... More

There were a number of interesting exhibits throughout the museum. The working life of the people of the North was well done -- very informative. There were a number of displays of craft work which was very detailed. Look out for a table which has a number of inlaid features. The museum was not crowded and I enjoyed checking out... More
