    Place for ultimate relaxation
If you’re not under time pressure , this is the place where you should be. A long stretch of this park adorn the city center with popular monuments nearby. There is a kiosk for drinks, snacks and ice cream. But along the stretch beside it looks like an upscale shopping district. This is a must .

Beautiful Park At The Center of Helsinki
A very nice park in Helsinki. Lots of events and people in the summer. There are also a good number of cafes and shops nearby, as well as good transport connections. The architecture surrounding the park is also very beautiful.

    Park at center of Helsinki
Park at middle of Helsinki, nice place to just spend time sitting on the benches. Crowded at summer but you can find a place to sit on the grass too. Lots of cafes near it and a kiosk where you can buy icecream and drinks.

A peaceful esplanade for chilled walk through the city
Stumbled across this esplanade and we loved it. It has a feel of the early 1900s and you can imagine well dressed gentlemen with ladies in long flowing dresses walking down here from that time. Some nice monuments and a few food stalls too. Helsinki isn't particularly a fast paced city but it is still busy and this esplanade walk is a calming place to stroll through the city, with plenty of benches to sit and people watch. Nice place for a break from the city.

Nice park - seems like a lot of activity especially in the evening with picnics and music
While staying in Helsinki, I would pass through the park from my hotel in order to get to the city center sights like Senate Square and Market Square. There seemed like a lot of going on in the park as it appeared to be very popular with the crowds. The busiest was during the weekend evenings, with people on the grass with picnics and music being performed. Seemed like a nice place.

    Central Park In Helsinki
Esplanade Park is a large park in central Helsinki and dates back to 1818. It has well managed gardens and statues and the Kappell Restaurant that opened in 1867. This area is a public space for performances and events. You cannot miss the park when in Helsinki and a pleasant piece of green in what can be a fairly drab city

We were just walking around when stumbled upon it, and since it was on the way to the place we headed on, walked though whole it's lengths. I have to say it was quite pleasant walk, and some interesting things were there apart walk itself. Park is not crowded (we were there on Friday afternoon) but amount of people were substantial, so keep in mind that this will not be super- serene park but rather onebustling with city energy.

We walked along the Esplanadi Park numerous times. Beautifully landscaped , great sculptures and decked out for Christmas but I think it would be lovely any time of year. Central and leads to more central city or market square and harbour at the other end. Appeared to be very popular with both tourists and locals. A great walk.

This centrally located park was planned by the famous architect Carl Ludvig Engel. It was opened in 1818.

At the Market Square end of the park lies the historic restaurant Kappeli from 1867. Opposite Kappeli is Espa Stage, which offers summer concerts.

Svenska Teatern (Swedish Theatre) is located at the Mannerheimintie end of the park.

There are many statues in the park. The most famous is the statue of Johan Ludvig Runeberg located next to the legendary Kämp Hotel.

In the summertime, the park is popular for picnics.

During Christmas time, the park is beautifully lit.

The park is just off Market Square and runs from there for a few blocks. The park is well laid out with paths, benches and a few sculptures. There are shops on both sides of the roads bordering the park. On the right (as you walk from Market Square, the shops seem quite upmarket- branches of Prasad’s, Gucci and Louis Vuitton are here as well as some exclusive boutiques. At the end of this road is the Stockmann department store, a Helsinki version of Macy’s apparently. The shops on the left side are much less interesting. There is a supermarket and a few eateries only.

This small park it could be argued is one of the natural focal points of the city. Designed by the architect Carl Ludwig Engel, the park was originally opened in 1818. In 1827, Engels Teater (the predecessor of the Swedish Theatre), the first theatre building in Helsinki, also designed by Engel, was erected in a corner of the park. Centered in the park is a stunning statue of Johan Ludvig Runeberg, the national poet of Finland, by his son Walter Runeberg. Other public art pieces include works by Viktor Jansson, and the gardens themselves are beautifully kept with a lovely arrangement of flowers on display in the summer.
The eastern end of the park houses the Kappeli restaurant, which opened in 1867. In front of the restaurant is an outdoor stage, which hosts numerous live music performances. Other prestigious restaurants on the edge of the park include Restaurant Olo on Pohjoisesplanadi and Savoy Restaurant on Eteläesplanadi which are very swish places to eat/drink and of course have outside areas directly onto the park.

This is a really beautiful and peaceful part of the city. The park in the middle of the Esplanadi is a comfortable green space to sit and enjoy a coffee, some ice cream from a nearby kiosk, or just people watch. And some of the city's best shopping is along this street. The Esplanadi is in the middle of the city center, so it's unlikely you'd miss it. But making an effort to spend some time here is a must in Helsinki.

Long strip park in the heart of Helsinki. There are many art deco type restaurants which look great. There are also lots of street vendors. The park lacks the vibe of other capital cities but still is a welcome bit of green in the city.
