neat place

Neat place to visit, but a bit tricky during the winter with snow and ice. Nice museums, neat places to look around.

Nice place for outdoor activities. Quite peaceful place with an exciting history. About a 10 minute ferry from the Helsinki port. There is also food shop and restaurants. Sunny days lots of people. Many of the museums on the island are closed during winter.

An interesting island steeped in history and easily accessible from the port near Market Square, this attraction is a must for anyone visting Helsinki. A half day is enough if you have limited time, but a full day makes for a more leisurely stroll around the various sites. Pick up a free map from the tourist info office, follow the... More

A short boat ride in Baltics and a wonderful place to walk around. Wonderful monuments to see, enjoy and a great feeling of fresh air from the sea. Great coffee joints and a wonderful place to have a relaxed day with the family! Just need to be prepared to have long walks and pace the same gradually! Definitely not a... More

Getting there by ferry is just as much fun as the site itself! The Museum detailing the history is very informative, well worth watching the film too!

Hi! Thank you for your review! Yes we agree the ferry ride is very nice, specially during the winter time. It is fun to watch when the ferry breaks the ice. The film is also very interesting at the Suomelinna museum. It gives you very good information about Suomenlinna´s history. You can also choose the language for the film. Hope... More

The Island is really nice and has some good sites but during wintertime it's slippery and dirty so I would recommend you to go there during the warmer months. However the ferryride in winter through the ice is great!

If you go in February you find an abandoned island covered in abandoned fortifications and unbelievable views of the frozen Baltic. Very cold though and nothing really open.

Suomenlinna is 7 island old military base built in the 18th century by Augustin Ehransvärd..but it's history is much older. One of the islands called Vallisaari was just opened for pubic. If you are looking for a historical atmosphere with beautiful nature, swimming, relaxing and cafe breaks you will love it. Restaurant Valhalla was opened for Helsinki Olympic games in... More
