From the outside it's an architectural masterpiece of striking beauty. Inside it's "interesting" but here and there a bit bland - nevertheless, the tours are worth taking. The big problem comes when it's used for concerts. The acoustics in the main concert hall are awful....More

I generally like Finnish design but this one did little for me. But it's convenient to the museums, so worth a stroll through.

This building designed by Alvar Alto stands out for its late modernism and contextual response. Viewing it from across the lake gives it a sculpturous appearance but as you get closer, the elevational treatment with alternate strands of white marble and dark windows mimics the...More

The surrounding area is a large park that is next to a lake. If it is a conference, it fulfills the purpose of its existence because it isolates you from the surroundings. It is 500 meters away from the city center with significant usability and...More

Finlandia Hall represents perhaps the most visible Alvar Aalto architecture in Helsinki. This unique hall is used for concerts, seminars, conferences, receptions etc. It's easy to access and very spacious for different functions. A must see at least from outside.

We were not going to a concert here, but visited the building and had a very nice lunch in the cafe at the ground floor. The architecture is fantastic and the location at the lake is superb.

An event venue which is used for both public and private events. The external structure is quite iconic. Internally, there isn't much to shout about.

This tribute to Sibelius was beautiful and it felt like those who designed it must have known the composer. We walked through but there were no tours at that time. Would recommend that visitors try to take the tour. Staff was very nice and tried...More

First you may find this building extremely simple but that's exactly how it feels so different from historical buildings with artistic style. The best example of Alvar Aalto architecture and philosophy!

The building looks unique from both inside and out. It is mainly a concert hall. Would been nice to attend a concert for sure.

I went to run the Helsinki Half Marathon last year, and it started from there. Loved the place: new building, compact and modern design. I fell in love with this city, its architecture (both the old and the modern) and its people.
