We walked up the hill to this massive brick church and enjoyed the views from the courtyard out over the city. Inside the church, wood timbers clad the upper walls and ceiling. A brochure available in the entry provided a map and descriptions of the art and architecture of the building. This church is less ornate than others in town, meant to appeal to the common folk.

The walk to the church gave us enough hills to recieve a small challenge
We used GPS on our phone to find the steepest/ shortest climb
The views over the city were spectacular in every direction.
Save for the mountain top across the bay, this seemed to be the highest vantage point in the city
They had portable WCs avail outside for visitors like myself and wife who came after hours

There was a small community of apartments as well for a taste of the neighborhood.

Worth the trip!

I wish this place was closer to public transport. But it's worth visiting if you're into architecture and photography. I presume the panorama is the best you can find in Gothenburg. The church is ascetic and aesthetic at the same time - a complete opposite to the Orthodox churches in Eastern Europe.

This is a pleasant church that is situated on a hill top. The exterior is interesting but the interiors is nice but not outstanding. There are great views of the city from around the church. Be prepared for the climb up and I would recommend Google Maps (or equivalent) for the route.

Pretty view over Gothenburg, but the inside of the church isn’t anything special compared to others in Europe!

We visited this church as part of a cruise ship excursion and were treated to some time inside to have a look around and a short photo stop outside the church as the viewing area offers some nice panoramic views over the river and the city.

Inside the church there is a beautiful wooden roof and décor that pays tribute to the maritime history of the city and apparently you can climb the tower (which is one of the most iconic features of the city skyline) however we didn't have time to do that.

Well worth a visit if old churches and elevated views are your thing.

A place I always bring my visitors to. Here you have the best view over Gothenburg and can get an insight over how the town looks. Best in sunny weather of course!

The view is amazing!

Purchase your ice cream at Triumf at Allmänna vägen and walk up the stairs to the right of Hemköp at Stigbergstorget, up to the church. Pick a place on the rocks, sit down, eat your ice cream and enjoy the wonderful view!!

Worth staying until the sun sets!!

Lovely church with wooden roof inside resembling an up turned viking ship. Outside there are lovely scenic views of Gothenburg so excellent for photo's both inside the church and out.
