With its high-end shopping facilities and Michelin-starred restaurants, Östermalm is definitely the poshest part of central Stockholm. Here you will find Stockholm’s most majestic residential buildings, a beautiful market hall from 1888 displaying gourmet foods from around the world and the Swedish Royal Dramatic Theatre with its awe-inspiring architecture. At night, legendary nightclubs make the perfect location to observe the natives (and those aspiring to become natives of this exclusive neighborhood) in their natural habitat and to enjoy the latest produce of the Swedish house music scene.

Really stunning walking area in the heart of the old Stockholm. Full of architectural landmarks, cultural and historical artefacts, just enjoyable and beautiful views. A must-see starting point for any visitor.

Stockholm is a beautiful city, and Strandvagen is just one area that exemplifies this. Definitely worth exploring on any visit to Sweden's gorgeous capital city. It's very pedestrian-friendly (and family-friendly), so walking or biking is easy. Take your time; enjoy the water, the stately buildings, the cool architecture, all of it.

This is now the most prestigious street in Stockholm but it used to be a slum area in the end of 1800s. The town planner then went to Paris and came back with the idea of making a boulevard in Stockholm and this is it. It's lovely to wander along it on a sunny day. Few bars and cafes along the way and many of the ferries leave from here.

I walked around here after visiting the Royal Palace. The architecture of the buildings is ornate and beautiful. There is no entrance fee to pay, take some pictures, and enjoy the ambience.

This is one of the grandest areas I’ve seen in any European city.
Lovely architecture, grand and ornate buildings.
Fashionable boutiques and restaurants.
Great views to the city, towards various museums like the Vasa and Nordic, and across the water and all the moored boats.
Perfect area for strolling and just taking in the sites and history.

We came here for the cinderella boat to sandhamn. Its a street of grand buildings, although a large road separates those from the wide waterfront walkway.

There's relatively little on the walkway itself, we thought there may be food stalls for waoting boat passengers for example, but there's only one small kiosk with a limited range.

one of the most beautiful like this places in Europe and perhaps in World. Perfect for walking specially summer or spring (and nor rainy days). Many spots to get a nice photo, to eat, drink or just see the view.

Leave the old town (Gamla Stan) behind and as an alternative to catching a ferry, take a stroll, power walk, run or scooter along the waterfront at Strandvagen to Djurgarden to see some of the many attractions this lovely city has to offer. Needless to say we took the stroll option!

Look to your right and see some lovely boats moored up and look to your left to see some lovely buildings.

Just a lovely place to be on a lovely day.

Strandvägen is a very high level promenade on the sea shore. It has high class hotels and on te toher side, you have the ferry and tour boat stops.
