Take a cruise and go through the Lock where the Baltic Sea meets Lake Malaren, it’s well worth doing.

As well as being picturesque, it was nice to learn that the water here is so pure that it provides most of Stockholm's drinking water. I also learned that people are allowed to swim and fish in it. It was a very calming visit, and...More

Took the boat trip into Lake Malaren through the lock as the lake is about 1m higher in level and took another trip to Drottningholm Palace on an Island in the lake in a ship built in 1901. Great scenery and a busy stretch of...More

Lake is spectacular.... for us the best spot to view it (if you can't take one of the ferries) is just a long block down from the Birger Jarls Borg square and the beautiful Riddorhome Church (burial place of Swedish Kings, Queens and Nobility for...More

If you are spending summer in Stockholm make sure to include water activities in your schedule. Picnic at the Tantolunden and a swim or kayak tour in the Lake Mälaren are one of the best things to do ;) For more travel tips please find...More

Unique large lake that literally butts up to the Baltic Sea, with Copenhagen intertwined with innumerable bridges. A really beautiful view on a beautiful day. But- in the ( long) winter it’s frozen and all off the pleasure motor craft and sailboats have to be...More

This is a lovely lake in Stockholm which is huge but well worth seeing. There is a lot going on with boat trips from both sides available without booking if you don't need to set off at a given time. Well worth visiting.

Its great way to enjoy the archipelago especially if you have Stockholm pass (its free), it is on the way to Drottningholm Palace so if you are going there then you will pass the lake

The boat ride from the Baltic sea side of Stockholm to the Lake Malaren is exciting. The travel through the lock where the water level drops is exciting.

We were taking a canal cruise and as part of the cruise we were on the lake. I must say I was most fascinated by going through the lock to get to the other side. It was a particularly hot day last week and people...More

Malardrotningen Hotel /Yacht would be fun for kids, although cabins are small and you would need multiple cabins if you have more than two people in your party.
