after spending a morning on the island of djurgarden I walked through the forest and the lakeside path to the thiel gallery. the museum was a private home of a collector in a lovely pastoral woodland on the edge of the island. it contains a collection of Scandinavian art from the impressionistic and post impressionistic era with the bleak mysterious... It took a long time to get there by public transport, but once we reached it, it was worth it. Of course, visiting in summer helps, and it was lovely to be able to have lunch out in the garden overlooking greenery and statues. The museum itself houses one of my favourite Swedish painters, Carl Larsson, but I was also... More

You will find art from Eugène Jansson, Carl Larsson and Bruno Liljefors. Danish and Norwegian artists such as Edvard Munch. A lovely walk out on the wonderful Djurgården. To embellish the visit is recommended to make a visit Thiel Gallery’s café.The café offers seasonal soups with freshly baked bread, homemade sandwich, the kitchen is under construction so it is a bit... This beautiful museum on Djurgarden is a real gem featuring early 20th century modern masterworks by Nordic artists, including an entire room of works by Munch. All are installed in a beautiful Art Noveau building built for that purpose. There is a lovely cafe, a small but nice shop, and beautiful grounds with sculptures by Rodin and others. It is... More

This is one of the least known museums of Stockholm; easily reachable from the center by tram number 7 (tourists are advised to buy a Stockholm transports card for 24, 48 or 72 hours. Specially if they are seniors they will save a lot of money and trouble). It was originally the house of a banker which lost his money... More

A nice way to spend a wet afternoon in Stockholm. There are many fine art works spread across an impressive building.

Me and my family had a great time at the gallery today. We arrived at 1pm had one hour to wonder around before a very well planned and interesting guided tour 2pm-3pm to get more of a background on all the pieces. Great collection of Scandinavian art and nice family excursion.

This was the house of a wealthy banker who collected beautiful works of art as well as building a house for them, now to be enjoyed by the public. There are some important works by Edvard Munch as well as one by Danish Vilhelm Hammershøi. At the far "end" of Djurgarden, as it were, you need to get a bus... More

From the bus you see a bit of the countryside on Djurgården on the way to this museum, which comprises a large collection of paintings and sculptures by some well renown Swedish artists. It also had a temporary exhibition of textiles. There was a cafeteria with possiblity to enjoy a good lunch. Do not miss a stroll in the garden... More
