This is a must-visit for those who enjoy Swedish art of the late 19th, early 20th centuries: Prince Eugene, Anders Zorn, Bruno Liljefors, Carl Larsson, August Strindberg, and many of the lesser known artists of the era. And the house built to become this museum...More

For a tourist, museums and galleries are primarily a default default choice for rainy weather. This is hardly the case here. The Thiel collection, housed in a fine Art Nouveau mansion (perhaps the finest creations of the architect Ferdinand Boberg), is definitely worth a visit...More

I visit this little gem every time I'm in Stockholm. I've reached it by bus, by walking from central station (a long but lovely walk), and as a passenger in a friends auto. I never get tired of the permanent collection, partly because it showcases...More

An absolute delight to visit, with a lovely cafe too! Easy building to move through and some nice things to buy in the small shop, which is at the entrance.

It's an easy 25-minute bus ride from central Stockholm to this intimate and gracious collection, housed in a hilltop mansion where the grounds invite relaxing on a warm day. The big international name here is Edvard Munch, who's well represented, but don't be surprised to...More

After visiting Prins Eugene's Waldenmarsudde, follow the path along the water until you reach the Thiel Gallery. You'll enjoy the beautiful walk along the water, and be rewarded by elevated art and pottery in beautiful a beautiful space.

Formerly the residence of Ernest Thiel and the family, now a gallery showing their collection of paintings. Many by Munch, but also many others Swedish painters. Beautiful rooms of furniture, painted walls and ceilings; overall a grand house. There is a lovely small cafe serving...More

A pleasant ride out on the bus, and a short walk up the hill. This real home turned gallery. Gives a very good selection of turn of the century Swedish impressionism. No elevator, steps. Good cafe, great to get coffee to keep going.
