Southern Sweden´s largest museum, Malmö Museer, is located on Malmöhusvägen in the heart of Malmö in a beautiful park-like setting surrounded by canals. Here you can see everything from the Nordic region´s oldest surviving Renaissance castle to a new Aquarium, a real submarine and fantastic vehicles. The museum´s permanent exhibitions focus on history, natural history, technology and seafaring. There are also about a dozen temporary exhibitions every year. Museum shops, restaurant and an organic café.

I visited the Malmo museum 2 days ago. I have to say that the exhibition and display is very disappointed and not audiences orientate. Most of the objects and rooms only have Swedish language labels, there is no audio guide or guided tour. How can the museum expect every visitor can understand Swedish language ? The museum has some great... More

Wonderful museum with excellent permanent and temporary exhibitions. Unfortunately we didn't get there early enough to see everything so leave plenty of time. Cheap too at 40swk

Went with my 4 yo son and he really appreciated parts of the museum. But it was a nice outing and cheap so I will visit again.

My friend and i took our three young children into this museum to see the aquarium on the downstairs floor and allow them to run around safely in an inside environment where it was safe and warm. We enjoyed the museum much more than we expected. We then took the children to see the stuffed animals and exhibits on the... More

We specifically visited the museum to see The Bridge exhibition, as we're die-hard fans of the tv series. The exhibition itself is in the Technical and Maritime Museum opposite, just down the road on the right hand side (right next to the fish market) from the castle part of the Malmo museum. Entrance costs 40 Kroner (about £3.50) and you... More

I liked best the expedition “Välkommen till Sverige - Malmö Museum som flyktingförläggning och de vita bussarna 1945”, which told about the refugees, who came to Sweden with the White busses from the German concentrations camps. A very tragic and moving exhibition.

We were here for the day from Copenhagen and this was our first stop. The castle houses several museums, so there's something for everyone. We chose the aquarium and natural history museum for our limited time. The aquarium is definitely worth a visit - and the tanks are labeled electronical with an option for English, so we actually understood what... More

NB: I'm treating this separately to the excellent Teknikens och Sjöfartens (technology and maritime) museum opposite and down the road a bit. See separate review for that. Both are covered by the same admission price though. This museum, located in the Malmo Castle which has evolved through the ages from being part of the city wall to being a prison,... More

its a kind of a big museum of everything and a castle. I´ve been there twice, always explored something new. You can go into a real submarine :) was great. The castle is pretty boring though. But if you are there you should go there anyway. We spend there maybe two hours all in all.

I love this place, here is always something to do and to see. Plan in advance what you want to see so that you don't get lost in time and space. Beautiful building and also a very exciting history.
