Walking from the train station you go through this area on the way to the main square behind. Statue in the middle surrounded by parking

We were there on Sunday, so it was almost empty! Hardly shops were opened so nothing interesting found.

Stora Torg could become the most sparkling sliver of Malmö.
This generous area is a bit of a forgotten wasteland, which is a miracle in itself considering it is contiguous with the fabulous Lilla Torg, and mere inches away from the charming train station. Hopefully it will be gently developed with added greenery and a bakery, and returned to the inhabitants of the town in the fullness of time.
However, they could also make short work of it, just like back home in Gothenburg, and eradicate it completely with a myriad of hideous condominiums, until there is a block of flats where there used to be an old wide square.

It was under wraps and surrounded by boarding so we couldnt get near. Pretty unremarkable really, unless you particularly like statues

Great old buildings with a lot of history. Many of the buildings are still in use today and are functional work spaces. Great square to visit with a few restaurants to pick from.

A very large square placed in the heart of the town. Surrounded by old buildings but only one it’s really impressive: The Town Hall. A few restaurants on its sides, a few shops(including a souvenirs pretty big one) a interesting fountain and a equestrian statue in the middle complete the landscape. All in all, beautiful but not really impressive.

As it happens preparations were in hand for a Midnight Run event for which they were evidently expecting a large turnout and this spoilt some of the better photos possibilities

There is guite a lot of things to see - water fountain, statues, city hall. You can continue your way to the shooping street right after.

As you enter old town from the train station, the first big and largest square is The Stortorget. It is surrounded by many old historic buildings and some statutes, but the main attraction is the magnificent city hall building which takes up one whole side of the square. Just behind the city hall building is St. Peter's Church. Walking along city hall, you will enter Sodergatan Street, the main pedestrian shopping street. The square is not the prettiest, but TheMalmo Radhus is certainly a grand structure to see. Sorry my great photos of the square got deleted.
