Several interesting exhibitions from Umeå, Västerbotten, nice photos and an interesting area regarding building preservation for our Swedish houses. Excellent restaurant for couples as well as for families travelling with children of any age. The outdoor areas are also quite interesting for the whole family

The place is full of locals enjoying the outdoors and the beautiful scenery. I went on a cold Sunday and chose the 3.6km length walk. ( There are longer and shorter paths as well to follow, all indicated by different coloured signs.) The tracks are well signposted, it's impossible to get lost. Ideal for cross country skiing, mountain biking or... More

This is a Place I return to, I can either walk around in the summer, or Winter, to loot at all Beautiful old buildnings or I can be inside to learn from new exhibitions, they are Always up to date and its a wonderful Environment for Children to play or to be creative.

A cafe ´with homemade food; soups, bread, cakes and with a local touch. I have tried this wonderful cafe at least 20 times and satisfied every time. Nice chef and staff and a nice milieu in scandinavian style, blond and bright!

Nice open air museum about the north of Sweden and its history . Great for children as well especially on different holidays when there are lots of traditional celebrations. Nice place to get the original picture of North Sweden!

A quite big museum which gives a wide picture of the Västerbotten county. As often with "provincial-" och "county"-museums, so also here, there is maybe even "too much" information for the random tourist, but ofcourse you do not have to read everything there is! I liked the exhibition on the city of Umeå which is to be found on the... More

A very generous museum facility, a good model of a relaxed, friendly, non-fancy and comfortable museum experience. Very helpful staff that explains the facility and guids you what to see and do. Has the landmark section of documentary photography based on Sune Jonssons magic pictures (and you can buy top quality photo replicas of some of them in the museum... More

Great examples of early Västerbotten history, from stone age rock art to farming and Sami lifestyle. The many wooden buildings, from a rebuilt island church to 1800-1900 farm buildings, and wooden fences were amazing. The pictorial exhibit of stone-age rock art and 19th century drums was also very moving.

There is a great outdoor exhibition, but also and indoor part that consists of a permanent exhibitions and some that change. For me - not even a whole day is enough to visit everything. I can spend here hours reading and listening about history of Northern Sweden. Personel is very helpful and committed. Very good museum and it is for... More
