We visited this attraction and were pleasantly surprised at the whole set-up. It was extremely well organised with everything taken care of - from blankets and heating in the little carriages, GPS monitoring and even tea/coffee included. We found the carriages more than comfortable, bigger than we thought they would be and traveled quicker than expected. Enjoyed the commentary as... More

We loved it. It's worth the drive (it's about 30min drive from Rotorua) and good value if you are a fan or railways and trains. Railcruising put good use of an existing railway system and developed it into a tourist attraction. You gotta travel within the scenic reserve where no public is accessible. It's breathtaking! Due to the fact that... More

This very special experience can only be found here. Amazing railway experience. My younger cousin absolutely loved this experience. Definitely worth it and I hope more people will go on these small rail cars!

Although we were a bit taken aback at the price ($150 odd for 2 people), we're glad we went. It's clearly been a labour of love and you have to admire that sort of passion. The rail cars were great, the views and the commentary of the history of the area was quite fascinating. It was a nice long run,... More

Ingenious & Inventive, we loved to see the old railway lines in use and the commentary was informative and well paced. Helpful staff and a great setup. Wonderful way to travel and enjoy the sights. We would love to see more of these all around the country making use of our unused scenic railways.

These self drive cars are very easy to operate (only requiring someone to remove the handbrake and apply it when instructed). Amazing scenery through a native scenic reserve (which cannot be accessed other than by these rail cars) informative audio as you journey to the station at the end and turn round to come back. Full enclosed with drop down... More

A great way to see the countryside. A relaxing ride along the old Rotorua Branch railway line in a self propelled cart. We enjoyed the scenery and the peace an quiet.

My husband loves anything to do with railways so we decided to try this. It was raining so it was a good rainy day activity. Really unique ride in an electric "Railway Car". It's basically self driving and you stop it. Quite beautiful scenery. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
