An eclectic area with old brick lanes, houses dating back to the 16th century, and canals which are home to many boats and ships, some of which has been turned into restaurants or even serve as fully furnished homes. The best known attraction in Chistianshavn is Christiania, a “free town” of residents who squat on a former military area. However just a stone’s throw away from Christiania, you’ll find some of the most fashionable waterfront apartment buildings in Copenhagen as well as the splendid Royal Opera House.

Build in 1767 this old house, even though renovation work has bee done, it very much tells the story of a bygone time. For over 200 yrs. from here passengers as well as materials were transported to and from Greenland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands. I only took a quick tour through the building having a look at the different posters. I could not believe my own eyes when I saw the writing beside these were written in Danish only, not much help if you don`t know any Danish ! However I spent some time in the shop downstairs chatting to a very friendly lady, Asta from Iceland. Besides some very nice handmade woolen cardigans and throws there was also some lovely Icelandic art stuff for sale. Opening hours Monday - Friday : 10 - 17 Saturday and Sunday 12 - 17.

Very mellow museum on several floors celebrating customs and heritage and art from Denmark's island communities and close neighbours including Greenland and Iceland. Highlights for me were the building itself - an old warehouse - with interesting mini exhibitions and artwork. Also great shop and excellent cafe serving freshly-made waffles with smoked salmon and local Danish beers that you could eat outside in the sun. Everything was great value. The entire meal including the beer was around ten euros and the entrance ticket only six euros. Quirky and recommended and not over-touristy!

With its definte focus on art and music from Greenland, Iceland and the Faroe Islands, this gallery brings visitors powerful impressions of the whole North Atlantic region.
The old building - previously a warehouse in the busy harbour - provides a perfect backdrop for the art exhibitions, with solid wooden beams and very special light, regardless of the seasons.
The small shop on the ground floor has an interesting collection of handicrafts and books.

Very interesting exhibits (though few in number I feel), the onsite shop/cafe was very cosy and pleasant on a rainy afternoon and had a great selection of beers - including choices from Iceland and the Faerie Isles.

We visited the museum because the building looked beautiful and it was nicely located.
The exhibition is not really worth visiting as it's pretty small and not particularly interesting. You can browse through the two floors within 5 minutes.
The women working at the entrance treated us in a very unfriendly manner.

I am very interested in remote places, languages and anthropology and as such, I was very interested in visiting the museum about North Atlantic Countries and their cultures.
Last December I went to Copenhagen, but the museum was unfortunately closed during Xmas week. This time I went back to Copenhagen and one of my priorities
was to visit Nordatlantisk Brygge.
When I got in, I couldn't pay the ticket because the credit card machine was out of service, however the staff very kindly offered me to enter the exhibition
anyway.
The building is on 5 floors, but only two floors are used for the exhibition. I was expecting more introduction about North Atlantic locations,
instead there are very few posters and written only in Danish.
Basically the only exhibition was the one about an Icelandic artist. It may be just my impression, but I didn't enjoy it. Despite I'm quite into photography
and I'm open to art in general, when it is something too abstract or 'strange', I quite find it difficult to get a meaning out of it or to feel something for
it.
Anyway, I'm glad I didn't have to pay for it after all otherwise I would have been very disappointed.
It would be great if there could be more introduction about North Atlantic, their history, traditions, culture, languages and so on.

I love the place - not only because we have an office here, but because everything about it is so exquisitely Nordic. You get to see an icebear, Nordic fashion, photos from remote places few people go to and even some coffee and cake. The meeting facilities are great - with exception of internet which is really bad.

I was just touring the other bank" of the harbour canal when i stumbled over this place - right next to restaurant Noma by the way.
Historical building with lots of links to the Nordic links between the Denmark and the Faroe Islands and Greenland.
Exhibitions. A café with "Nordic handcrafted goods. Roynd the corner is a Greenland shop combination frozen fish and art andclothing.
Lovely place. Recommended!

Nordatlans Brygge is a beautiful place - lots of old renovated buildings - holds a Nordic atmosphere.

I visited the place with my parents to see the exhibition with Sigrun Gunnarsdottir, and the exhibition itself was a really nice experience. The paintings were interesting, and the documentary about the artist really good. In addition to the exhibition, the building itself is also worth seeing, as it is very beautifully restored and the warehouse atmosphere preserved. The store on the ground floor has many beautiful things and good books, and one of the reasons we chose to visit the place was also that we would like to taste the Greenland beer that they advertise with on their website. This was unfortunately sold out and the same was the snacks that we also wanted. This was communicated to us by the woman behind the disc in a very rejecting and descending way, and we experienced in general a very arrogant and unfriendly reception and service on site. It must be done better!
