The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Indre By (Inner City)
This is the heart of old town Copenhagen, with its blend of charming old buildings and bold new architecture, broad avenues and tiny streets as well as picturesque canals and a modern harbor. The inner city is home to the Royal Danish Theatre, which consists of three buildings, two of which are new and situated on the harbor front. The streets, squares and venues of the inner city and its surrounding neighborhoods, are alive all year round with everything from jazz festivals to outdoor ice skating rinks and parachuting at the lakes right in the center of the city. This compact area boasts beautiful old castles, tranquil parks, and bustling squares where you can always find a bench to stretch out your legs whenever you need a break.

I was traveling via Copenhagen to Malmö and used opportunity to spend a day in sightseeing CPH. Many historical sites in the city excellently blended into modern architecture.
All in walking distance, if you want. Alternatively, plenty bicycles to rent - i can recommend. Cycle pathways are all over,
I enjoyed.

This is a massive building close to the Nyhavn area. It is visible from many areas in the city, at least it's spiral spike with the twisted dragon. A very impressive piece of architecture and colour. It is one of Copenhagen's finest structures.

This is a massive structure and hard to miss with its towering twisting dragon spire. We saw it from the adjacent canal as we were cruising the waterways of Copenhagen.

CPH stock exchange is more or less an average Scandinavian brick edifice, but what stands out is the roof with its spire. The spire is a twisted Dragons tail with its claws embracing the Dome - very beautiful and unusual.
I think you cannot visit it as it's currently under renovation, but do pass by to see it as it's in the vicinity of Christianborg Palace in downtown CPH.

Worth passing by it. The architecture is quite stunning. With the striking roof design. There is a lot of work going on, so much of the building is covered in scaffolding. But good, it's important that it is kept preserved for the future.

Didn’t realize this was the stock exchange due to being caught off guard by the building and it’s twisted dragon tail spire that grabs your attention. I think this is the main things tourist go to take pictures of when it comes to this building.

This is an amazingly looking building you can't miss as you will see it on your left when facing the Christiansborg Palace. It used to be stock exchange but it is now in private ownership so you can't visit the inside.

There are many historical buildings in the centre near the Christiansborg complex - but the Stock Exchange really stands out with its long, red, low facade that stretches out along the water side.

Its famous Dragon Spire comprises four dragons that spiral and twist upwards, culminating in three Crowns on a spear. The Crowns symbolise the then Kalmar Union of Denmark, Sweden and Norway. A gorgeous flourish.
An exceptionally beautiful building completed in 1640 in the rule of Christian IV, it was designed in the lovely Dutch Renaissance Style to impress all, and specifically merchants arriving in the city.
On the quayside of Frederiksholms Kanal, its grand decorative entrance is on Slotsholmsgade. It was fascinating to discover that initially it was home to merchant traders renting up to fifty shops selling a multitude of goods.
Today it serves as an event venue for conferences and banquets. Good to see that it continues to impress.
