Address
Neighbourhood: Inner Vesterbro
This neighbourhood is home to Tivoli Gardens, a world famous amusement park and beautiful garden always worth a visit. Just west of Tivoli, you’ll find Copenhagen Central Station, from where you can reach just about every part of Denmark within 5 or 6 hours, or you can reach Copenhagen Airport in less than 15 minutes. Next to the Central Station, you’re in the middle of “old” Vesterbro, where several cultures and hundreds of languages are spoken in an area not more than one square mile. This neighbourhood is considered one of the most trendy places to live in and to visit in Copenhagen. For a real treat, visit Kødbyen ("meat town"), home to several restaurants, cafés and nightclubs, all within a short walk of each other.

    Fun Day
Not overly expensive, and a lot of fun. Not too long a wait for rides, a lot of food choices.. Everyone was very nice. We went on a Friday and there was a concert that night, so a lot of young people were there and were having a good time. It turned a little too cold for us to stay for the concert, but would recomend for an afternoon/evening.

Fabulous gardens as a backdrop to a themepark
Beautiful grounds with many places to sit and enjoy the beauty surrounding us. A theme park is hidden in the background. We were just there to enjoy the grounds and we certainly did. Would have liked to have spent more time there but were tired after a walking tour of Copenhagens city center. Hint: Visit first thing in the morning when they open and stay all day. Also, we visited on a weekday as suggested, it was less crowded.

    The First Great Amusement Park
It helps to appreciate what Tivoli Gardens is and not come with the wrong expectations. This was the first true amusement park in Europe, built in the 1800s and was one of the places that inspired Walt Disney in designing Disneyland. It still has peaceful gardens and lakeside views and a lot of the old style charm. There is a large collection of mild thrill rides as well. It's not anywhere on the scale of Disney World or Six Flags, nor does it try to be. Most of the negative comments deal with the fact that the rides aren't included with the admission price, but this is something they state very clearly. Also, the basic admission is much cheaper than a place like Disney, and the idea is that people who don't want to go on the rides can come and watch without having to pay for everything.

There is benefit in planning ahead if rides are not your thing
We were in Copenhagen on holiday and had always intended to visit Tivoli Gardens although not for the rides. The gardens we knew about. Very well tended and presented with good successional planting so over the summer there is always something in flower. At the time we hadn't appreciated there is an entertainment programme, but some nights are clearly better than others so if you have flexibility it pays to plan ahead to schedule the visit with something you like. Concerts are quite eclectic with a wide variety of music and some well-known musical acts play from time to time. We arrived late afternoon so you get the benefit of gardens in daylight but as it gets darker, there are impressive illuminations. Other attractions are a daily light show scheduled 45 minutes before the park closes and on Saturdays a fireworks display. For non thrill seekers the attraction is still worth a visit but it pays to choose your dates carefully to maximise value.

    Has the wow factor
I visited during the Halloween period and I was blown away by the decorations. Really impressed with the rides and the entire atmosphere. It was a bit expensive but was worth it. You are well protected because there were lots of security personnels inside and food outlets as well. There is a pond also with tiny boats for those so inclined to enjoy water sports. So many roller coasters as well. It was fun for all young and old. I will definitely recommend . The exterior of the building and the entire block is beautiful at nights. It gave life to downtown Copenhagen. A definite must visit for the entire family.

    Great fun park
We were in Tivoli on our honeymoon in 1971. It was much more genteel then with lots of "gardens", but now it's a theme park. If you like being thrown upside down in the air and flung about then this is for you. Or maybe you just like to watch other people being scared? Having said that it is a great atmosphere and there are fountains and even the occasional quieter corners to enjoy. The eating places are quite pricey: we had an Italian meal once which was satisfactory, and another day we went to Tivoli Food Hall which was disappointing. Reffen is better (take bus line 2A to the terminus). We went twice to Tivoli: once on our Copenhagen Card and once with a ticket for a concert. The concerts of classical music are of a really high standard and the ticket includes admission to the Tivoli Gardens. Everyone at the concert (a violin recital) seemed to be Danish. Where were the tourists? They had suddenly disappeared!

    Beautiful lit at night
First thing, yes it was expensive but it was worth it as a one-off visit because it didn't feel like any other commercial theme park. They've just about done enough to keep the authentic and historic atmosphere. There's no giant rollercoasters but the smaller nature of the park worked great. You can hop on 3 or 4 really fun rides in the time it would take to queue up for one giant rollercoaster at Disney. Lot's of mini-arcade spots as well to keep everyone entertained.

    A Must do visit
Loved Tivoli gardens I would say it is best to visit at night when all the lights are bright. There is a light show by the lakes at 21.30 The atmosphere was lovely. Plenty of places to eat , lots of shops. The rides were fantastic. It's a little way from the centre of Copenhagen so a bus or organised trip is recommended.

    Tivoli is worth a visit!
For being such a small amusement park it really has a lot of fun things to do. And it is a really beautiful park too. The old wooden rollercoaster is really fun, especially in the back. Tic tac looks a little too much, but it was a really fun ride! The deamon was also amazing, a little short but with the space the park has, they have done an amazing job to build it there. And if you don't like rides, the park has a lot of games to play, and some calmer rides like a fairytale ride. And they have rides for the smaller kids too. So everyone can have fun here.

Tivoli is so fun! We went at 630 PM and the timing was almost perfect, as there was virtually no line anywhere, and we got to see the beautiful lights at dusk. I would recommend a 530 or 6 arrival if you have younger children as some of their rides (like the Carousel) stop at 630. Truly a delight! The entire team was so friendly too!

This was such a unique find for someone from the UK! We had some time to kill before heading over to ESC so we decided we'd head in. It cost us around £90 for two tickets including a ride pass which I think is comparable to UK prices. There's a fair couple of rides, lots of lovely gardens and a food court (which is also open to the public from the main road). We really enjoyed our time here! A lot of the rides are probably aimed at young teens however, in our late 20s, we still enjoyed.

Tivoli Gardens was something of a spectacle. It was a beautiful place even if it was on the smaller size to the scale we are used to in the UK. It probably takes ten minutes to walk the full park.

I will say, the food feels like the focus of Tivoli - there are SO many restaurants, bars, stalls and stands that it’s actually a bit overwhelming. You could spend the day just eating and drinking and it does seem that a lot of the park’s visitors were there just for that and the beauty of the park itself.

The rides are okay - I don’t think you go here expecting the best roller coasters in the world, but for a younger kid, especially, there is so much on offer.

Also… Cakenhagen… WOW. Those cakes were stunning. I also did manage to spend about 5 hours here, so I can’t say it was a bad deal overall.

Not sure what I expected from this place but I was really impressed.

The Gardens are much bigger than I thought and very well maintained. It's just a good old fashioned amusement park but not tired at all and so much more than just rides. The light show was very good and I thought there was something for everyone.

Would recommend going here when visiting Copenhagan.

Tivoli gardens is a must see. Compactly layed out yet with so much to see and do, every single detail has been carefully thought out. Whether you intend to go on rides or not it is great as the gardens are so beautiful and the atmosphere is lovely. The rides are all quirky, fun and decorated in a unique way, nothing seems unloved or neglected. There is a huge variety of food options and some great shops too. We went in the evening and seeing the park lit up after sunset was magical.

What an amazing place! We thought we might spend a few hours there but ended up spending all day and going back to see the lights at night and we still didn’t get to see everything. There’s even an aquarium there which we didn’t have time to go in. It’s lovely to stroll around and the rides are really good. The oldest rollercoaster there is so fun! There are lots of food places, the restaurants are very expensive but the food court is amazing, full of different types of food. It was so pretty at night too with all the lights.
It was clean and not too busy either.
Definitely a place to visit:

Great old iconic theme park. Fun to see the older rides and some good food options as well. I will say it's pretty pricy compared to other theme parks in Europe but that is to be expected in Denmark.

We visited the park using the Copenhagen card, which gave us free entry to the park and gardens, and we paid for a couple of rides. It was lovely to,walk round the park and just enjoy the atmosphere. The sound and light show at the end of the evening on the Saturday was nice. Lots of places to eat and drink. You could spend a fortune there if you really wanted to. It is a lovely place and definitely worth visiting in the late afternoon/ early evening when the gardens and buildings are lit up.
