Kunsten is a living art museum allowing space for immersion, wonder and fascination. The museum houses a unique collection comprising over 4000 works of art, mostly post-1900, by Danish and foreign artists. The exhibition area consists of five galleries providing visitors with ample opportunity to experience the permanent collection as well as a number of special exhibitions. Kunsten also hosts a variety of events including lectures, film screenings, concerts, family workshops, guided tours, and other activities suitable for all age groups. The museum building, completed in 1972, is an attraction in its own right. Designed by the world-famous Finnish architect Alvar Aalto, assisted by Elissa Aalto and Jean-Jacques Baruël, it is the only museum building outside Finland designed by Aalto. The museum is built of striking white marble, a style that is continued inside with stunning marble flooring and copper lamps, also designed by Aalto.

The museum of modern art just outside the centre of aalborg, is an excellent opportunity to see both old and new art. It is easy to combine it to what the young people are learning in school which makes it more "hands on". I don't think I will be attractive to all visitors of age 5 an up. Have a... More

The museum has a permanent collection where the art work is grouped in themes, meaning that you can see paintings and sculptures from many different artists and periods in the same room. A different way of display but functioned OK: The permanent collection has many paintings by Danish artist Asger Jorn but the collection overall is not very impressive. The... More

Really nice arcitecture with very nice light in the building. The art is quite okey, and various exibitions can be quite fine, though it is not alvays the case. Been there several times.

The giant Finnish arcitect Alvar Alto has designed one of Scandinavias most exsiting art museums! Huge collection of international art from Picasso to several importenworks of the Cobra artists like Jorn and Apel! 5 min. Walk from the hotel Scandic City!

The exhibit was innovatively composed. It is not like a traditional art museum. Personally, I am not that into art, but there were some aspects here that intersted me. Especially their interactive exhibition was quite entertaining. It was all about the senses. If you are interested in art, this place is definitely worth a visit.

Great museum! We are a family four and there was something for everyone. Currently there was a fantastic exhibit where you can play in the "forest" and instruments are even available to play. Had a nice room for the kids to create things. We did not eat at the restaurant but it looked nice.

Wow, I wasn't expecting so many renowned artists and artworks - Picasso, Warhol, you name it! We spent hours and hours here, and we'd go often if we lived here. Highly recommended for anyone. A great place for kids, too - there were plenty of things for both little ones and teens to do while parents check out the art.

If you are planning on visiting Aalborg this is worth the short walk from the town centre. If you do plan to visit and also plan on visiting the Utzon then get the 1+1 card which will give you access to the two. This is definitely better value and I would have thought the Utzon overpriced had we not done... More

I did not expect a so nice museum. Kunsten is a quite big musuem in Aalborg with some masterpieces of Modern art. I saw a Changall, a Pistoletto and a lot of interesting danish painters. I suggest the visit to this museum to everyone art lovers and not. You will spend 2/2.30 hours with pleasure in Kunsten.
