A 20 minute walk from where we parked our car, up a steep rocky path, took us to these large tombs, incredibly hewn out of solid rock to quite a depth with gigantic rock capstones. The capstones and graves designed with rebated edges to take the cover. Fascinating mulling over why they are here and who they are built for.... More

Оn the location Sendoukia at Mountain Karia, there are, by the legend the graves of pirates. In fact, on this spot there are three ancient graves carved deeply on the rocks, dated from Neolith time. Legend says that the legendary pirate Barbarossa tried to plunder the island but the locals managed to defend themselves. The pirates who died in the... More

This is hard to rate or even really explain. The local government has not really organised the ancient sites like this. There is no information about it locally, so read up before you go. You get to the end of a dirt road, park, and follow sometimes spray painted arrows to find it. Slightly bizarre but still fun. It is... More

We travelled to Sendoukia with a local who knew the area well. She drove us to the trail leading to the 3 tombs. I don't know if I would have found the graves without someone knowledgeable. The trail was not well marked. As we approached the location, the wind began to pick up and the pine trees began to rustle.... More

Splendid rocky site with views over Skopelos and beyond. Well worth the 20 minute walk from the nearest road junction or, as we did, the three hour climb from Skopelos town. The path from the blue motorway-style sign is very clear up to the rocky outcrop but once up there look for faint paint arrow marks and small cairns. The... More

This is a very interesting place (it's Sendoukia, by the way) - atmospheric and mysterious. Despite the title given by Trip Advisor, no-one actually knows who constructed these rock-hewn tombs, or when, although they are largely assumed to be Neolithic. There are some similar on mainland Turkey, apparently. The views are fantastic and it's well worth the hike from where... More

Off the beat and track, you will miss this entirely if you don't pay attention to the signs. The walk up seems endless and the terrain is rough so wear sneakers. Honestly, we walked up to the top and were not sure what we were supposed to look for. We were sent there by locals. It was an adventure and... More

We followed instructions on a tourist map and were sadly misinformed. It said to keep going until the dirt road ended. In fact you leave the car where the road branches into two by a sign on a tree marked at Sendoukia. At no point in our journey was any sign entitled Pirate Graves. You follow a path on foot... More

I think we must have followed a different road to the last reviewer as we spent ages on dirt tracks but it was definitely worth it! And I have to admit the road back was much easier! The path is quite obvious and white arrows (some reviews I'd read said red spots but we only saw arrows) do enough to... More
