Megalos Aselinos is one of the best if not the best beach on the island. Spacious enough with a beautiful, fine sand, not overcrowded. The problem in August, as in Skiathos in general, is that lack of sun-beds and shade.

Have visited the beach on the 23rd of August. Not many people were there but it was quit windy. I did not like it as much as other beaches because there were almost no pine trees to touch the water. There is plenty of parking...More

Easily accessible by car. Better roads than trying to get to Kechria or Ligaries. Sandy with shallow waters. Occasionally windy but that makes it more fun with waves but can also be very calm. It's very quiet and relaxed with no heaving hoards or banging...More

You need a car to reach this beach, but worth visiting. We visited end of May/beginning of June and it was so peaceful. Quiet, even when the boat trip visits, as most people visit the beach cafe.

We have now visited this beach a few times and always enjoy the spacious taverna, the boardwalk and the easy, plentiful parking. We have never been when it is busy but apparently there are occasional boat trips that call in.

Being on the more exposed north of the island and with a wide open bay, this beach varies considerably with the weather. Over the last two weeks we have experienced everything from flat calm to crashing seaspray that soaked everything. This is a great beach...More

We hired a Suzuki Jimney Jeep for a week so we could get away from the more crowded beaches and this was one of the beaches we visited. A lot of the beaches on the north side of the island are accessed by dirt tracks...More

One of our favourites. On the North side so catches cooling breezes. Easily accessible via the asphalt road from Troulos. Gritty sand but it brushes off easily. Long expanse to walk along. Beach shelves quite steeply so deep water near the shore. Sea is blue/clear...More
