We walked down to El Castro on the cobbled path ( although there is also parking low down) and were rewarded with some lovely views en route. The remains of the ancient capital of Skiathos are wonderful to see although good footwear is needed as...More

On our boat trip we stayed for one hour here which was not enough to climb up and go back properly. I thought it was a contest ☹️ . The view from the top is worth the trouble.

Kastro are the ruins of a former fortress where the people of Skiathos hid from the pirates. It's impressively built onto the top of a rock only reachable from one side. Next to the history it offers great views over the shores and the beach...More

We travelled there by quad , it is possible to get there by car as there were cars in the car park , however, I would take a quad or jeep. Getting there is half the fun then the climb to the top. Wear trainers...More

At the North of the island this is now quite remote in comparison to the well maintained tourist road. You can take a car all the way there but I wouldn't recommend it! One of our couples had a Jeep so we decanted into that...More

It's worth making the short 10/15 minute climb up to the fort, as there is the remains of a whole town worth exploring.

You can drive very close to it but the walk up into the ruined village does require walking on small rocks along paths. You can get a reasonable view of it from the small car park right at the bottom of the approach.
