Although the archeological site is not as impressive as others in Greece, it is definitely worth a visit when in the area. We visited at the end of March and had a privately, guided tour. Our tour guide made it well worth it and more...More

Although Ancient Olympia’s ruins are not as impressive as some of the other archeological sites in the region, it’s definitely worth checking out, especially since there is so much history associated with this place.

Olympia is stunning. Home of the original Olympic Games, it is mind-blowing to realise how long these ruins have existed. Along the walk to the original Olympic track, there are stones either side with the names of the winners and cheats of the games. The...More

If we had more time and "patient" teens, it would have been good to get a guided tour so someone could explain and tell specifics about the monuments, etc. Just walking through it at our pace with our teens worked for them as we read...More

This is a very rural area... It is hard to believe that the lighting the Olympic torch is still done here... Viewing the altar where the flame was lit from antiquity was a very powerful and humbling experience. I have never seen as many "athletes"...More

Just returned from a whirlwind tour of Greece and Ancient Olympia was a highlight for me. One of my first thoughts was, that if this site was in North America visitors wouldn't get within 50 metres of these awesome ruins. But in Greece you can...More

Beautiful park like setting with historic sites everywhere. We were able to run in stadium just like they did in BC Times. Magical to know you were standing where the flame is lit for the torch relay.

As mentioned, go when the facility opens. It will give you time to wander in peace and take it the sites. The walking is easy...no hills. Please allow time to visit the museum. Tour groups can be an issue. People are running... More

Hello, the site is amazing, you should allocate a morning visiting the site, there are 3 museums on site, refreshments are available in one of the museum, sensible shoes should be worn.
