Built in 1893, the canal saves the 430 mile journey around the Peloponnese, it connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. What is interesting is the first attempt to build this canal was back in the 7th century BC....More

Wow. Quite impressive. Quite far down. Wait for a boat go come by. Take photos from both bridges, from both sides. View bungy jumping.

You pass this on the way to Corinth archeological site. A real picture taking area! You can walk on both sides of the road to get the view both ways.

Seeing pictures taken looking down into the Canal we wondered how it would feel to be looking up. Friendly staff soon had us entering the Canal from the Eastern side and heading towards Corinth on the Western side.

We traveled through on a large yacht just barely able to squeeze through. So close to sides you could reach out and touch the rock!

Unique experience. I enjoyed every minute of it. It was designed by two Hungarian engineers so it touched my heart after It's uniq beauty too. I could spent more time here but this is the schedule: the boat returns before the gates get closed.

I would not make a special trip just to see the canal, but it is a very cool place if you are in Corinth.
