You can’t compare this exquisite small jewel of Thessaloniki to any Byzantine church you have been to in the world !! Visit during mass in Easter to enjoy best singing and mystique experience. The frescoes are sublime and transport you to another world..,

One of the best church is Solun. Absolutely without mass of tourist. Very photogenic place. Worth of visit, but carefully check opening hours.

It is a bit hidden in the old city-so someone should use google maps or ask the people how to find it.It is a monastery of the byzantine era with many rare frescos on the walls and a huge garden.
