Before we came to Rhodes I did not know about this large archaeological site high above Rhodes Town. Walk, bus or taxi up to the top and soak up the ancient history. Also great views over the west coast - great for sunsets.

The acropolis is shrouded in scaffolding but the best starting point. It's downhill from there to the theatre ( very heavily restored) and then to the Hippodrome style track(200m long each side) which was, I thought, the most impressive; the VIP seating at the front...More

Amazing history. I read & heard so much about it hence I took my time to find it while I was in Rhodes. Despite the arrows in the streets & asking a few people pointing to its direction, ''twas not that easy to find it....More

Its a privelidge to vist such an iconic place. A visual impact from many miles away you feel the same as sailors must have felt thousands of years ago. The pathways from the boats are not clearly marked virtually forcing you to go thru the...More

A must do if you like your old ruins or just peace and tranquility (if there are no natterers around) A stadium, amphitheatre and acropolis that seems somewhat neglected. There are toilets and a cold drinks/sweets machine in the excellent exhibition (see the naked athletes)...More

Our group had the good fortune of having a well-trained vocalist... at suggestion of guide Michael Triantafillou, he stood centered and sang... his voice carried magnificently throughout the stadium- fabulous experience. We were sad to hear that many Greeks generations (not recent) used the marble...More
