This place has it all. Salfuric pillars coming out of the ground, steam pipping up from several places, amazing scenery, a decent place to enjoy a cooling drink afterwards.

The sight within the elliptic caldera of the Nisyros volcano, which gets visited the most, is the beautiful round crater called Stephanos. It lies at the southern end of the caldera bottom and is considered to be one of the best preserved hydrothermal craters anywhere....More

To be able to walk down into the crater of a volcano, to smell the sulphur and see the water bubbling up out of the mud in the crater centre just has to be a five star experience unless you have absolutely no interest in...More

Absolutely amazing to be able to walk inside an active hydro thermal crater. This was the reason I brought the family to Kos to experience this at first they weren't too interested but all said it was brilliant. I bought some volcanic rocks as souvenirs...More

Nisyros is one of several Greek islands that are volcanic. This visit into the crater of an active volcano is a rare experience and should not be missed in any visit to the island. The hydrogen sulphide smell is oppressive at times.

We took a coach trip here. There's a small shop and toilets and a place to sit in the shade. For a few euros you get to walk down to the crater itself which is well worth it. It's not for anyone unsteady on their...More

Took a day trip from Kos island. Bus ride up and back down. There's a small shop that sells drinks and snacks. Toilets and wash basins are available. Walk down into the crater takes maybe 5 minutes. The path is very uneven and steep in...More

The volcano crater is amazing and a must to visit. It is very hot though inside so wear suitable footwear and a hat. Will be worth taking water as well. Really amazing to see and experience.
