Definitely worth the money! A great day out with a friendly informative guide. Got some great pictures. If it’s a windy day don’t sit on top deck of boat, you’ll get soaked!

The volcano is really worth of visiting. Bus transfer from our hotel was not available any more but our hotel was close to the harbor, so a short walk in the morning. What you can expect is a boring trip in an uncomfortable boat and tour guides messing about. Several hours of spare time to spend in the small village but less than hour in the crater itself, weird.

It is definitely well worth a visit to the volcano. From where the coach drops you it is about a 10-15 minute walk down to the bottom. They advise people not to go down if they have asthma but I didn't have any problems at all.

This was such an amazing and unforgettable experience. We booked with TUI whilst we were in Kos. The organisation along for all the buses picking us all up, getting us on the boat over to Nicyros and at the other end with our tour guides was brilliant, well oiled machine. Our English speaking tour guide was Maria and she was absolutely fantastic, she is so funny with her witty comments and is so knowledgeable for the local area and the volcano itself. The boat trip is about an hour and quite nice in the breeze, very hot in direct sun so be prepared. There are toilets and a mini bar on board. The island of Nicyros was beautiful with welcoming villagers, try the local ice cream, its really nice. The volcano itself was just incredible, its hard to even explain but so worth going, it's very hot down there but the size of it is awesome. Absolutely stinks but you are in a volcano so what do you expect, we saw some steam vents, the rock structure, landscape and information given to you is so cool, especially for a volcano geek like me. Would highly recommend this tour but be prepared as its a long day for almost 10 hours including all the travel, plenty of time to grab lunch in Nicyros and one of the many Taverns and cafes along the way in the small villages. Thank you TUI for your excellent organisation and thank you to Maria for being so fantastic.

For our trip, we were picked up from the hotel and after several other pickups arrived at Kardemena for the ferry trip from Kos to Nisyros.

We had an English-speaking guide on the bus to give us instructions and who also gave us a short guided walk around Mandraki. We then had a bit too long to wander around on our own and get some lunch before returning to the bus for the journey to the volcano.

The experience of walking around and into the crater of a live volcano was brief but fascinating, and there are many information boards explaining the science for those that want to learn more. We were at the volcano for a total of 45 minutes before reboarding the bus to return to the ferry port and then back to Kos

Overall a pretty unique and interesting day trip for a reasonable price

We were amazed at the scale of this volcano It costs 3 euro to enter the site. You can walk down into the crater easily and get a whiff of the sulphur smoke coming from the crater . The whole site has amazing colours and rock formations. More impressive than Mt Etna or Vesuvius and no crowds . Not to be missed

Awesome trip!
Would advise against booking with travel agent as in my case it would have cost me more than double than what I paid so shop around and read reviews.
The trip as a whole was well worth it, we went to see the volcano first then spent time around the square, amazing place to experience and the town was lovely full of friendly people, definitely try the food and ice cream. The organisation of the trip was excellent too from start to finish - highly recommend

We booked a transfer to that volcano at one of the tourists offices in Kardamena. The boat ride to Nisyros was very relaxing, we sat on the lower deck, and the waves kept splashing us from time to time - which was very welcome as it was a very hot day - about 40C. On arrival to Nisyros island, we took a bus, which took us around some picturesque, serpentine roads to the top of the island. It costs €3 to enter the crater (some people decide to look at it from the above, without walking down, but we had decided to check it out fully). It takes about 10 minutes to get to the crater, and you need strong footwear as the bottom of the crater gets very hot, we both walked in trainers, luckily the soles didn’t melt. Walking inside a crater of an active volcano was an amazing experience - I was surprised how massive it was. Also, you can see some smoke coming out of the small holes inside the crater and certainly smell the sulphur here and there - which definitely adds to the whole, out-of-this-world experience.
The island of Nisyros is beautiful - it has an authentic Greek feel (we had some time to go to the volcanic beach, I had never swam in a warmer sea before; and to visit a monastery). The scenery of Nisyros is similar to Santorini (in my opinion) but, personally, I would prefer to spend a few days there than in Santorini, as it’s not a commercial island at all. It boasts charming blue and white houses, some gorgeous (not organised) beaches, some tavernas, souvenir shops and a huge number of friendly cats, waiting for a snack or two.

We organised this trip through our tui rep, and my favourite part was all of the visit. To see the village of nisaros and hear about its history was amazing. Our guide Marie from meeting us in kardemena in the morning to leaving us in the evening was a mine of informtion, she never stopped her running commentary she was amazing. My tips for anyone going is to wear sensible shoes, take water and sunscreen, but most of all have the volcano lava cake in nisaros it's LUSH😋😋😋😋

You can`t believe how large a crated this volcano has. Its enormous. It costs 3 euro to enter the site. The walk down into the crater is easy enough especially if you have good footwear. Once in the crater you can get a whiff of the sulphur smoke coming from the crater still. Its not pleasant to smell but its not all around you either. The clamber up from the crater is quite tiring sogive yourself plenty of time to get back up. Takes about 10minutes to descend and around 20 to get up. Nothing much else to see around there except the colourful landscape surrounding the crater.
