The view is great. We took some photos and learnt some history of the castle. Worth to go. Around there are some shops for souvenir and some restaurant for a nice dinner. One of them is the

Great views and interesting ruin - well worth the steep walk up in the heat. Beautifully lit up at night. Keep looking out for signs up to the castle as they are in some strange places!

A nice place to visit - strolling in the castle takes around 5minutes. Free to enter. Not suitable for people with mobility issues. Definitely dangerous at some places and the signs are not clearly visible. Also the place has not been cleaned for ages. What a shame for the municipality not to protect their local gem!

Its a long haul up from the port - but you can break half-way at the Chora. Not so easy to find the way in - and expect great views and a mighty construction.
It is rough and ready and not at the highest heath and safety standards.
But apart from the strange lop-sided grin on the face of the floodlit castle , it is a must to do while you visit the island.

A lovely walk through the houses of Chora followed by spectacular views at the castle. Remember water as there's no where to buy any near the castle.

Beautiful Venetian castle on the top of Chora. It looks like a golden crown on white Cycladic houses. From the top there is a 360 degree view of the island. There are a lot of ruins, some of them are dangerous and forbidden to enter. Also, there are two beautiful blue dome churches for great pictures. Shame they were locked. If you can do it, climb there early morning and enjoy the sunrise.

The castle is a must visit destination. Great view, nice to walk during sunset!
However, the motorcycles have an unobstructed access to the small streets of Chora, making disturbing noise. It seems that Astypalaian authorities do not care too much for their touristic offering...
