The forest is situated in the area "Alyko" on the southwest side of Naxos Island. It is a great and unique forest in Greece, of Junipers(Cedars), which covers almost the entire sandy peninsula of "Kouroupia" cape, with an extent of 1000 acres! The rich flora of Alyko consisting of wild arborescent vegetation which includes the Junipers (Cedars), Arkefthous and Shcino. Τhe sovereignty of course is held by the Junipers which are met in the form of tree and bush reaching 4-5m height sometimes. The entire extent of the forest is covered by white sand and sand dunes. The age of many of the trees is estimated more than 200 years old! The forest is a nature protected area as it is a great shelter of small wild rabbits, birds and other animals.

Start your walk at the path beginning across the street from Faros Tavern. From here you can follow a path that will loop around the coast crossing through multiple beaches with different landscapes and breathtaking views. You will eventually reach abandoned building complexes which had begun construction in the 70's and was abruptly stopped by the Naxonian people due to... More

Marvelous area, almost completely covered by Cedar Trees and typical Mediterranean vegetation. Beaches here are sandy and with just few visitors (some of them are also doing camping). The accessibility is not that easy though and to reach the sea water you need to climb down some "vertical" sandy/rocky slopes, but when you are there the swimming in the crystal... More

Very very hot, little to offer on the beach so do take shade and refreshments with you, bark still visible underfoot, from hundreds of years ago.

The beaches which fringe the Cedar Forest are stunning but not that easy to access if you are unable to 'scramble' down a gritty slope. They are some of the most beautiful beaches that we have ever seen on our Greek island hopping trips but not for those who want the sun bed and taverna type beach.

Four bays in pretty surroundings. Not an organised beach and two are used by nudists, so be aware if this matters to you.

Really beautiful area with plenty of gorgeous private beaches. An excellent way to spend the day and a great area to visit.

This was a beach we returned to three times during our wonderful week's stay in Naxos. And t here are many to choose from. However, by posting this I hope it doesn't become more popular as much of its appeal is due to the lack of many people also enjoying the best water we swam in while there. The colours... More

This was a visit we shall always remember! The access is through the cedar forest and the cliffs are fairly steep. Bathing was great...crystal clear waters. I swam the length of the beach and back each day Suitable for costumed (us) and people who forgot their cozzis!!!! guess we should have checked it is a well known naturist beach first!...absolutely... It's a little bit remote but worths a visit. The sand dunes with cedar trees and the thousands of lizards passing by is something unique.Leave the car where the dirt road starts and walk towards the shore or between the sand paths. Its totally great!

The beach here is huge with not so much development. There are few sun loungers you can hire from the taverna where you can also get food
