First of all I must say the island and the village is very good for vacation. But for anyone that tries the nightlife there alone as a man ; read this carefully :

Some of the bars/clubs have carefully designed traps. At my first or second night, I have went into this place called ''FLAMES''. It is small but cute bar/club located right in the center of the village.

This place actually employ some tourist girls (!) that act like they are some tourists out to have fun on their vacation evening. What they do is by any means make you buy them drinks so that they can get their commission from it while they act to be one of the customers. In order to avoid responsibility, they directly tell you that they work for the place when you ask, but most probably this time gap will be enough to fall to the trap.

When I found out that they were working for the place I did not mind it that much. The next day while I was in another bar, again in the center I met another girl, who took me out of that bar and rushed directly in FLAMES BAR again. Of course I walked in right after her and directly asked if she was working there and the answer was ''Yes''. Right at that moment I turned my back to walk out and she grabs my arm and etc.. OK, the previous night I did not mind it that much but dragging someone from a bar to another for commissions ? That is something.

I have noticed several people being dragged into this very same trap.

It is so sad to see that Ios has a dark side like this and I do not know how this dark side will effect the Island in the future.

Amorgos was a port on our Seabourn cruise. We rented a car and drove to Chora. We walked all thru the village and around every turn we found beautiful flowers
, alleys and colorful doors. There were little restaurants and cute shops. Not a big place but certainly worth visiting and snapping many pictures...

There are quite a few such choras on high hills in Greece (a chora is the main village of a Greek island) but the one on Amorgos is among the most picturesque ones. Apart from the standard white-washed Cycladic houses, there are several windmills on the crest of the hill above the chora. Interestingly, and in contrast to other similar choras, you can have a look at it from higher above (without a drone).
If you are with a vehicle, when you reach the chora from the port (Katapola), you can have a walk through it and then continue further to the north-east, driving uphill. Soon you will reach some perfect places for taking pictures of the chora below. Then you continue driving and you may experience - depending on the weather - a very interesting phenomenon: you can suddenly enter a cloud passing along the high hill - as if you are driving an airplane (could even be a little dangerous). It is for these reasons that the chora of Amorgos gets my fullest recommendation - along with the island itself and the majestic Monastery of Panagia Hozoviotissa!

Chora is a very beautiful small town on Amorgos. Great number of places to eat and some lovely small shops and excellent labyrinth of streets and alleyways to explore.

Chora of Amorgos is very picturesque and typical of Cycladic architecture. Has many choices for restaurants, coffee, sweets and for drinks at night. It's not very close to a beach, as it is located on the mountain, but it's a good place to stay when you're young and interested in a vivid life. In the mornings, you can go to the beaches around the island with a bus (good transportation services around the island) or a car and then return to Chora for dinner and walk around, for drinks. Many places offer live music and is really nice and cozy, with lots of young people. Would definately recommend a visit or a stay there.

It's so beautiful, 123 photos and we would keep going but my battery was dead.
People are friendly and helpful, they're not trying to make you buy anything .
Very relaxed atmosphere.

One of the most cozy places I have ever been to! The streets are so small and everything looks fantastic. Typically Greek style with white houses and blue doors surrounded by colourful flowers, cats sleeping in the shadows and old Greek people smiling in their ports. There are lots of small restaurants & shops, and also some bars and cafes. It's perfect to just walk around and feel the atmosphere and sit down for some local food. It's wonderful to be there both during the day and the night. I definitely want to go back!

The most beautifull Chora in the Cyclades as far as i am concerned. No cars are allowed in, the alleys are white, no plan, they just mix, and chance direction, up, down. You need to get lost in this place. Small yards, tables of local houses mixed with traditional cofeeshops (kafenia). Small bars, small restaurants, tavernes, sweetshops, souvenir shops, all mixed in harmony. What you will not realise if you dont visit is the energy of the place. A strange unique feeling that makes you want to stay there forever, time is lost, from dawn to late at night, the Chora is a lively place, not crowded at all, people wander and are lost in the alleys. Make sure you have time to get lost there, Make no plans, just know you will be there and trust me, you will not want to leave.
