Had a lovely walk through the old town, taking in the Greek culture. Worth a trip if you like small shops and trinkets etc

Surprisingly large area going in many directions. Not only lots of shopping but lots of dwellings. The architecture is very varied and often interesting, especially the houses.

A big castle near the sea where people fight for their freedom against many periodical enemies. Old strong building. Near the castle there are many restaurants with good food.

We’ve wandered around the “Old town” a couple of times now and are still very surprised of how friendly everyone is and all the books and shops there are. Well worth a visit.

Went to Crete in April 2018 and chose to stay in the old town of Rethymnon with the Fortezza at the end of our small street. Worthy of a visit too! Easy access to small greek supermarkets and bars. A lot of genuine back street...More

Beautiful narrow streets and boutique shops, felt more like Italy than Crete, well worth a look round.

We wandered in the old town. We visited an ethnography and contemporary art museum. My daughter and I had a fish spa treatment.

When in Rethymno you are bound to walk into the old town.all roads lead to it. Very touristy and typically crowded. But there are untouched spots in it in the little streets southwest of the Roman fountain. Try them but you can hardly miss the...More

The port area itself is very crowded with restaurants tables and might be very difficult to handle with a wheel chair . the rest of the streets are manageable.

I think that this hotel is a good choice, if you do not care that the beach is near. I prefer hotels that are near the beach but also close to the city center. In any case, I recommend that in addition to spending time on... More
