This is an excellent monument and I would personally appreciate to be under light during the night time. Visit the western part to experience the best sunset in Crete. The best view of the Old Town is from the Agioi Theodoroi church.

Rethymno's fort is one of the biggest Venetian Fortezzas in the world! It is indeed quite big, you should have comfortable shoes! The best views are for the walls from the outside or sea / city from the fort. Nothing much to see inside the...More

The venetian Fort at Rethymnon is well worth the walk up to it or drive up and take a chance of a parking space. Very interesting with great views of ocean and the old town.

Covers a larger area than expected. Lovely view of the town and sea from the top of the hill. Worth the visit.

The fortress is basically in town, easily accessible (minutes walk from the centre) and is quite impressive. It offers a very wide (and beautiful) view over the Mediterranean, one understands straight away why the Venetians wanted the spot.
